Hats off to Vic supporters
#302178
I always find it a tough assignment to watch our boys playing interstate and, based on recent history, it's no surprised that I turn on the box fully prepared for a poor outcome. With that in mind I am constantly amazed by the loyal band of Victorian followers who continually show up to create a small patch of purple at our away games. If anyone deserves to savor last weekend's game it's those diehards at the Dome on Sunday. Let's hope you get a few more results like that this year.

I was very impressed with the FRRREEEOOO chant being clearly audible on the telly box. Top work.

if that game was a sign of our game plan specifically designed for Docklands then the Vic supporters may just get to chant it a few more times.

The AFL may have done us a great favour by giving us a home away from home.

I have just watched a couple of footy programs I taped last night.

Think it was One week at a Time, the hosts mentioned that Freo is trying to make Etihad as familiar to us as Subi is.

Who has some ideas about what else Freo can do to make the boys feel at home away from home?

I heard the club is arriving in groups in Maxi Cabs similar to what the guys do from Freo Oval to Subi....

I reckon they could be hanging giant vinyl posters of the Bell tower outside of our Melbourne hotel windows.

With Real Estate "cheaper" in Melbourne than here, perhaps the club can rebuild City Beach by the Yarra. Lots of the Dockers go for early morn swims down there...

Well done to the fans making such a noise behind the goals last Sunday.

On Footy Classified, Gary Lyon suggested that Sandi will win the Brownlow if we make the finals....

If freo dislike smutchy as much as I hear they do, surely they could use his big ugly head for motivation for the entire 2010 season and beyond,he was speechless lastnight when positive comments were being made about freo.Does anybody like that guy?

I saw the 1998 match at Waverley, the last time Freo beat Essendon in Melbourne. Now that was a tough assignment.

The Melbourne based website Footy Almanac has just posted a nice history of the Dockers and football in Fremantle from historian Malcom Allbrook, Includes a nice reference to the wonderful Ivan Glucina. The 211 of his day.

The Footy Almanac compiles and publishes the annual collection of fans' match views.

I was saying to Mercury in the Seaview on Sunday that I've seen Freo play Essendon live nine times for zero wins.

Probably seen about 12 Freo interstate wins all up. Remember beating Hawthorn in 2001, St Kilda at Launceston, Adelaide at AAMI and a few against some other rabble of teams in Melbourne.

Oh, and I was at the Gold Coast to see us hammer the Bloooooos.

Anyone who wants to blow some cash or support cut-price airlines I can highly recommend a trip to Melbourne for the footy.

ETI is truly awesome when you compare it to Subi. Good viewing from all seats, you can go to toilet, get a full strength beer/rum/scotch, grab a feed, and have a punt and not miss a second of footy. And just say you do time your run badly there's always a big screen around to watch while you're in the queue.

While you're at it check out the urinal at the The Middle Brighton Baths, Brighton - there is a flat screen TV set-up behind a perspex/glass urinal - you actually p*ss on the screen. Was a little awkward for anyone who entered and found 8-10 sandgropers crowding around to watch the sport report while our other halves were having a wine.
