Lost, One Punching Bag

" And Gerard , it must be said that the media have lost it's punching bag ".
" Yes , there's no doubt about that Mike. You're referring to the Fremantle Dockers , of course"
" And Gerard , I'll add that Fremantle are a very good side and..... they're playing good footy ".
Mike Sheahan on " On The Couch " on Fox Sports to Gerard Healy.
We don't get many concessions from Sheahan but even he has had to concede.
The media outlets in Perth , however , obviously weren't tuned in last week when Gerard Healy and James Hird were critical of the W.A media and it's constant Docker Bashing following the Adelaide game.
Some things change and some things never will.

I'm more than happy for WA media to focus on the Egirls
and their poor start to the season.
Weekend press was critical of their midfiled and decision to drop Lynch - both represent a change in narrative. This continued focus on them is great - Freo can just play footy and not have our kids distracted by media talking them up.
As for East Coast press, we've done nothing since 06 and even that was percieved as a fluke, play a full season like we've started so far, and we'll get some respect. Fact Hirdy and Sheanan are already moving to support our coach/admin/draft selections, brand of footy, and ability of our players is testament to this.

They don't have to look far for a replacement. There's always Richmond!

Let's not forget the Demons - full of first round draft picks, their structures and game plan is simply perplexing.
But if you've got to lay a thumping on some team, look no further than the E-Girls.

Did anyone else see On the Couch and note the conversation about Barlow. Something about two members of the Bombers hierarchy choosing between Williams and Barlow, with the recruitment staff wanting Barlow. Seems there's a leak out of Bomberland straight to Harve's desk. Classic considering the contribution Williams is making at present.

Leave Richmond and Melbourne alone. They did not start the season with aspirations to the top 8. Nor did Freo.
There is, however, another winless three-times-premiership club that did...

Given that we're only 2 weeks into the season there's certainly been some spectacular backflips going on. The meedya have totally changed their tune on our recruiting, especially viz-a-viz Monty Barlow. The commentator on ABC radio even said words to the effect of: 'here come's the Docker's brilliant theme song'...something is definitely up.

Don't panic purple people , as soon as the Wet toast get their first win ( IF they get their first win )the media will be back on the woosha bandwagon and we will again be duly crucified for something inane.....normality will be restored.

I did write and hope the other day that the Cats will be affected by suspension and injury. The Cats have a short break and Ottens mentioned in an interview that they need to fly over to the "west" on a 6 day break. We do that every other week.
The Cats will be there for the taking. Other media people have said the Cats could be building and still working on base fitness.
Lets give it a crack Freo.
Things going right for us at present. Heres to hoping Taz pulls up ok for us.
And heres to the Roos having a good win against the Booftits or what ever ya call em.....
