Home games

Just finished watching the Lions/Carlton game. Much was made of the fact that the Lions had their first two games at home. How come the WA teams never get this treatment? We have to travel a helluva lot further to Victoria Central every second week than Brissie do! Why can't we get a couple of weeks during the season where the ES teams come to us instead of us always having to travel to them? The only time we get two games in a row at home is at Derby time when one fixture is classed as "away game" anyway.
OK - I'm just having a bit of a rant. We shouldn't expect any consideration being a WA side. I'll just go back into my corner now and grumble.

The only way to meet the WAFC requirement of at least one game at Subi every week would mean one W.A team would have to play three consecutive games at Subi.
That did happen for Freo in 2007 ; we played Richmond at home, Slime as an away game then Adelaide at home.
The only way to get what you are asking, without an away fixture against Eagles would need three home games in succession.
The AFL would probably consider that as getting too close to the favoured treatment of Melbourne clubs.
Always remember we only exist for their benefit.

That (three consecutive games at Subi) should be doable every year, for both WA teams
eg Freo Vs Richmond Subi Eagles interstate
Eagles Vs Freo Subi Eagles Home game
Freo Vs Geelong Subi Eagles interstate
Then later in the season have the Derby as a Freo home game with two interstate games before and after.
This allows for about 3 and a half weeks with no travel for both teams.

That possibly already happens Purple.
I just don't consider the Eagles in anything unless it involves Freo.

they used to have 3 subi games in a row for both wa teams until last year - now both teams have 2 consecutive subi games twice in a season. I'm fairly sure the change was made at the teams' request

I'm fairly sure it was made because the Kangaroos pulled out of the Gold Coast deal and buggered up the AFL's fixtures.

.....so, to simplify, the Kangaroos should have to play any home games against Freo at fremantle oval.

a quick look at the fixture shows we only have consecutive games at Subi ONCE this season. The extra home-game is made up by bookending the season (we play both round 1 & 22 at subi).
we play at subi 12 times and travel across the nullabor 10 times.
Collingwood play 14 at MCG, 4 at Etihad, and cross the nullabor once.
St Kilda play 14 at Etihad, 2 at MCG, and cross the nullabor twice.
Geelong play 6 at skilled, 7 at MCG, 3 at Etihad, and cross the nullabor twice.
Bulldogs play 13 at Etihad, 3 at MCG, and cross the nullabor once.
We're not really being gipped on home games, just on trips across the nullabor. Not much we can do about that, i would think.

It doesn't matter where we play we just need to win.
All the other interstate teams have won a grand final .
This proves that as long as we develop the right players we will have success to .
I think where on track for a premiership in the near future.
we come off looking like wingers when we complain about the travel. The truth is we are two teams in sixteen so of coarse we have to travel and we joined their comp they didn't join the WAFL .
Please lets set ourselves apart from the eagirls and not complain about it.

Ideally we should be able to offer cash strapped teams the chance to have a 'home' game in WA. Win/win for everyone but not a viable option for the AwFL apparently.
