Went to see Dockers vs St Kilda at Etihad in 2007. This was the game that Wiz was 'taken out' and my hubby yelled some not nice things out. Some locals thought they would have some fun with that but were generally friendly enough (except for the one ?!>?@). Also saw most of the guys at the airport afterwards , moping around mainly but happy to talk to us.

On Sunday back to Perth the plane was delayed and I got to see Mark Harvey (sweet) and Dean Solomon. My hubby asked about the Wiz and I just stood there starstruck and speechless.

Mac,
living in Adelaide for the last few years has seen me make a number of trips down to melbourne for the footy.
I can get to Docklands from my home in Adelaide in the same time as it used to take me to get there from Dunsborough!
Both Grounds in Melbourne are easily accessable from the cbd, really only a few minutes walk or tram ride.
Melbourne is a great city to watch the footy, and the crowds are a lot more tolerant of opposition supporters, unlike here in Adelaide. I suppose that they are used to having a significant number of the other teams supporters at the games.
It is normally quite easy to get in to see 3 games on a weekend as well as lose a few bucks at the casino on the walk from one ground to the other.
The last two trips I have made were saints and pies last season, both games I am trying to forget. Though I did have a number of beers with Bill Hunter at a pub in Richmond after the pies game.

Bill Hunter seems a classic Great Australian Bar Fly.

Was his wife there? She could fire ping pong balls across the bar in Priscilla Queen of the Desert.

By chance was Bill a Pies or Dockers man? Or was he just having a quite Ale or two in the pub?

games at the dome are awsome. Especially when the roof is shut. There's always empty seats at Docklands when Freo plays so you can sit pretty much anywhere you want.
There's always pruple behind one set of goals if you like the company, but for mine the third tier on the centre line gives you a fantastic view of the games.

Never go to Geelong. It's a long way out there, cat's fans have striking similarities to slime fans, and it's almost always freezing cold and it often rains.

The MCG is nice because there is generally, given that it's usually the pies or another rich team we play there, a few more people. But the stands can be slightly trickier to manouvre around (with the MCC sections and escalators, etc.) but it's still easier to find your way around than at Subi.

Like Matty says, you can make a good footy weekend out of it, seeing 3 or more games. Both grounds are easy to get to from the CBD and there's several wonderful Pubs on the way. Also, if you've saved enough dollar coins, there's a few nice restaurants on Flinders lane that you can go to after a game at the G.

I'm a Vic member so see all the games here, like the guys say it's pretty easy to find a seat at the Dome and when the roof is closed nothing beats it. best game IMO to see is the bombers, big crowd (not too many in purple) . There's also a section called the medallion club amate invited me. massive bar right behind the teams benches ( clear plastic so you can see who's injured or off) but the best is that it's got pull up mini TVs in the chairs (like a plane seat) to watch replays.. it's how you should watch footy!! the G Is always good value as well and can usually fit both in on a weekend as collingwood have 52 MCG games season!! lunch before on lygon hop on the tram to dome for 2pm bouncedown then a few beers down on the marina afterwards great day out.

Saw us play Carlton at Princes Park 2001. Rd 16

Needless to say, being 2001 it was a nightmare. 9.3 to 0.1 at quarter time; didn't enjoy it very much. Our lowest ebb. Made worse by having to listen to 3AW and Wallsy accusing all our players of being fat. Thank god we don't play there any more.

Finished the day asleep in a comfy armchair at a great Fitzroy wine bar so not all bad but I still get the shudders when I remember that game.

I'm flying over for the Essendon game (week 2). Reckon the reception for McFree will make the trip worthwhile. Plane lands 2 hours before game. Hiring car at airport and straight to Eddie's hat. Any clues on where to park?

PS Going down to Bellarine Peninsula after game, hence the car - before anyone points out the futility of hiring a car just to get to the footy.

It's a hire car. Just leave it anywhere!

By the time the fine comes in you should have claimed the credit card transaction as malicious and unauthorised use.
