In 2005 the West Coast Eagles went for most of the season without losing a game, people were dancing in the streets of Subiaco, blue and yellow merchandise was being sold with a mark up that would embarrass an airport retailer, footballers were strutting about with the sort of arrogance usually reserved for American 100m sprinters and the Eagles choked on the big day and lost the Grand Final. But where was the mask? Sure the first one was banned by the coach but that doesn't mean you can just throw tradition out the window. So, to right a wrong and to make sure the Eagles supporters don't forget how their season ended, we've picked up the slack once again. You may remember this.
We're not sure if that's exactly how the mark happened but that's how we, and the now seven million Sydney supporters like to remember it. The point being, that we're a bitter lot at Fremantle when it comes to the mob up the road and we don't want the Eagles going around being allowed to forget the events of that glorious day.
