Medhurst's manager knocked back an early offer from the club, generating speculation that he would pack up and head to another club but from what we understand it was just a minor difference of opinion. The sticking point was that Medhurst wanted his own private dressing room before games because he was sick of the tirade of Monkey Man jokes that the other players make about him when he takes his shirt off. The club wouldn't budge on the issue but the two parties came to a compromise when Fremantle offered him a swinging tyre and all the bananas he could eat.
Medhurst's signature brought to the end a big week of autograph hunting for the club with Brett Peake re-signing for two years just prior to the Grand Final, Steven Dodd agreeing to a two year deal mid-week and James Walker rushing in to re-sign when he heard Medhurst was staying put.
So, with trade week kicking off next week, the next big signature could well be a six foot six Shark with with an All Australian jumper.
