We’ve all got opinions on who will win and why they shall. We have in depth discussions on who should win, who could win, who can’t win and who won’t win. We estimate how many votes Chris Judd will be handed through flashy pieces of play while the architect, engineer, and laborer, Scotty West misses out. How many votes the Wiz will be robbed of is anyone’s guess. If there is a direct correlation from votes to free kicks then the Wiz is impossible. He has to be shot to get a free kick but is awarded it only if he can’t be revived, yet his direct opponent only has to slip on the Telstra surface and he’s penalized. So if that’s any indication, and it usually is, then the Wiz will be lucky to get a look in. dockerland used to do an incredibly in depth Brownlow report and wager some reasonable amounts of money on the outcome. However because of the above mentioned reasons I’ve put the Brownlow in the deadset racket category and have banned all personal betting on it. I will not forget the specific game where Essendon, a couple of years back, knocked off the Eagles at the Telstra Dome. The win was entirely on the back of James Hird. He picked his team up all day and carried them over the line. Anyone who was watching Australian Rules Football for the first time clearly had Hird best on ground yet the umpires couldn’t get him in the votes at all even given the Bombers won the game. Oddly enough they found room for C Judd. Now I’m not usually one for cynicism or conspiracy theories but it was no coincidence that all happened on the weekend where the previous Thursday night Hirdy bagged an individual umpire. So with all that said and done and having gotten that annual Brownlow gripe off my chest for this year, we’re opening up the 2006 Brownlow Medal reports to all dockerlanders. We know dockerlanders are very astute people and we want them to give us the word on the chances this year. Greyhounds WA, sponsors of the punting competition, have generously come to party and offered up a further five dinners for two in their award winning restaurant to go to the good Brownlow judges. Now if you not only want to get hold of one of these prizes but also show the dockerland world of your football knowledge, comprehension and Brownlow expertise then get reporting. What is required
Prizes of a dinner for two to the magnificent Greyhounds WA restaurant will be awarded as follows.
Example – Over All Winner Punter No.1’s Top 4 Punter No.2’s Top 4 Official Top 4 Punter No.2 would be declared the over all winner. If, albeit unlikely, punters have the exact same quartet and exact same votes then the punter’s chosen Smokey and his votes will be the determining factor.
Example – Smokey Winner Punter No.1’s Smokey Punter No.2’s Top 4 Punter No.3’s Smokey Punter No.4’s Smokey Punter No.5’s Smokey Official Placing Punter No.5 would be declared the Smokey winner. The price dictated the result as Brett Peake was the chosen highest priced top twenty place getter to the closest votes. If punters have the exact same Smokey on the exact same votes or different Smokeys but same priced and same votes and they both finish top twenty then the punter’s chosen top four finishes and their votes will be the determining factor.
