Kepler
#303794
Folks, I was wondering if this game against the Saints would suit the inclusion of Kepler Bradley.
I think he would be very handy support for Sandy against Gardiner and King, as those questionable opposition may well try and work the big fella over. I think he could do with some extra muscle for support for this game.
I would not necessarily like to see Michael Johnson have to go up against the Saints ruckmen if they were intent on causing him some injury. Kepler is tough enough to handle them, Johnno is better use creating some run elsewhere I think.
Any thoughts on the matter?

I'd be interested to know what strategies people think as far as team selection goes.
I'd love to see Sandi with the opportunity of resting in the forward pocket.

Yes I am wondering what Harvey's strategy is on ruck this year. When he will bring either Kepler or Clarke in, I would have thought against Geelong we would of had both maybe until Otens was out. I would think once Clarke comes on fully that Kepler would hardly been seen in the ruck again.

Yea I don't think Kep's has much of a role in the club anymore.
Shame coz he has shown promise as a roving ruck type.

I think you should put a "verily" after every yea thou typeth, Mr fanatic, grab yourself one of these puppies then let the rest of us thank the stars that we have Mr Harvey coaching our club not you.

Just remember it is a long season and the grind will start to have an impact on youthful exuberance and older legs alike after six or seven rounds.

So what you are looking for China is a bit of cannon fodder? Kep Kep is your man then - handy to have him in the squad I think.

I reckon Johnno has been super competitive when he has gone in to the ruck and is tough enough to handle whatever the Saints through at him but accept the point that he is of value elsewhere (Mr Fixit at the moment!).

I think we do need to be conscious of Sandi's workload however and those two gorillas that the Sainters wheel out will give him a run for his money. Sandi himself this week intimated that some support would be forthcoming shortly and I reckon our Zac could do with the experience.

Agreed Grub, i particually liked mj pointing where to lead boys before he gathered the loose ball out the back, then backing it up with a good kick to honour the lead, arrogance and confidence in spades and very handy in the around the ground hitouts when the big fellas having a rest.

Appreciate your thoughts Grub. I think you are close to the money on 'cannon fodder'. However I think that Kepler is actually a very tough and resilient character. In games like this against the Saints I think we may need his strengths.
With MJ I agree that he could really exploit both King and Gardiner around the ground because of his run. Both Saints ruckman could not run out of sight in a week. I was just a little circumspect about the need to expose MJ to those clowns.

I could be completely off the mark here. Maybe MJ is as tough as they come. Maybe he can climb all over the oppo big blokes and run them ragged.

Perhaps more importantly, maybe MJ gets a real 'lift' when given the opportunity of playing on the ball. If so then 'unleash the mayhem' is what I say.

But actually I have no idea about where MJ would rather play or if he even has a preference. Maybe is happy enough to simply play in purple and give it his best. If so, then all power to him and more.

Kepler would have played on Sunday if Ottens had played. I think he'll def play this weekend. I know a few of you will chuckle but I reckon we'll need Kep to play the derby as well. He'll be a good mobile match up on Naitanui in particular.

I think you are using the word mobile very loosely!

Kep's in the week for sure. ZAc needs to spend another year or so strengthening his body. I would tip him to get a run against bottom feeders (Richmond etc.) if Harvs believes he needs some AFL level experiance otherwise I don't think we will see him until next year without injury to Sandilands or Kepler.
