Freo Formguide: Freo v Nth Melbourne Having no supporters to speak of, the AFL are reluctant to let the club formerly known as the Kangaroos play non-Victorian clubs in Melbourne so the North Melbourne Kangaroos will head over to WA this weekend to do what they do best - provide an eighth match for the television stations to broadcast. The Kangaroos aren't in what you'd call red hot form since replacing Dean Laidley with the evil Scott twin. In fact, last week they lost by 70 points to the formerly struggling Western Bulldogs. The week before that they almost lost to Adelaide - yes Adelaide. But the Roos have had some mixed fortunes in WA over recent years so will come over with some confidence. False confidence but it's better than nothing.
Nat The Newie a Rising Star The AFL has finally gotten it's act together and nominated a Docker for the Rising Star Award. Claremont's giant handed Nat Fyfe has been given the nod to go around calling himself a rising star this week after touching up Ryan O'Keefe and generally running amok at the SCG. Fyfe's high flying marks and ability to maneover his tiny frame through the smallest of gaps, combined with his balance and laser guided kicking skills have caught many a purple eye this season but it has take the AFL House types over a month to catch on...which is better than they normally perform.
The Hoodoo Gurus Fremantle have ticked off another item on their to-do list and won a game at the SCG. They did it in style too, completely humiliating the Swans to win by 37 points. Despite half of Fremantle's defence missing the game with injuries or drug related mishaps, the Dockers looked like a side at full strength without a care in the world, dancing the ball out of the centre and making the goal umpire earn his pay with a combination of spectacular goals and almost brilliant points. The rain started pouring down in the last quarter to give the Swans some respite but it's hard to see their confidence recovering for a few weeks, nevertheless.  The win leaves Fremantle in third spot with plenty of time left to pick off the Cats.
