Replay & the "umpiring"

There's a replay on Fox at 8am this morning but due to work commitments I can't watch it. Does anyone know if there's another replay?
Watching the game live it seemed that Geelong were given a free kick within 2 minutes of every Freo goal. The number of free kicks given to the cats after Freo goals must be some sort of a record and clear evidence that the AwFL has given umpires licence to try and help the darling teams of the AwFL. Am I overreacting or did anyone else notice a clear nexus between Freo goals and Geelong free kicks?

At the game, I was fuming at the carp the ironically OPSM sponsored maggots were coming up with.
I watched the replay last night with a couple of cold ones and actually, a lot of the decisions didn't seem as bad as I initially thought.
Maybe it was the beers.

It's not the decisions it the lack of decisions re throwing and illegal disposal that woop me.

Sitting in the city end at Subi, I became aware of how the umpires would spot the mark - consistently marking the spot 1 metre beyond the point that the player ended up (as opposed to where the mark was taken). To the northern/southern side, it didn't matter - there was a noticeable left/right bias to make the kicking angle more acute.
OPSM had better check the lens balance before our next home game.

Was there a new rule brought in this year that you can't ping Gablett at an away game?
Seriously, he had more spins with the ball than a rhythmic gymnast.
In the wash up, Geelong lost out on more important frees because they got sloppy and undisciplined. They're not used to getting pinged that regularly.
50's were very soft, specially early.

My Mythtv schedule has it replayed again on Fox Sport 1 at 2:30 Melbourne time on the 14th, but then again, I thought I was recording it right now and it turned out to be the Melbourne Adelaide game instead!

The real issue I reckon is the consistency of decisions.
Pavlich gets done in the middle for holding the ball (without any real prior)... balls goes to our forward 50 and Geelong gets caught in pretty much the same way... it's play on...
And didn't one of the maggots yesterday go to call holding the ball for us and then change his mind mid signal to play on...?

Kicking towards the Subi end and Haselby marks about 45m from goal. As the the ump stands at the mark and is putting Haselby on the angle, Hunt steps in front of the ump, around 0.5 - 1m and marks the turf. The ump then looks down sees the mark and steps forward and sets the "new" mark. Haselby's kick is then touched on the goal line... I was livid!!!

Docker Danno, I too noticed the one that was called which Mayne tackled the 1st gamer Simpson and the umpire blew the whistle and then was play on... Very much amazed at the non call..

I don't think that we can legitimately complain about umpiring of this game. One odd thing is the revised HTB interp (revised by the AFL and not the umpires) where a tackled player must be attempting to dispose of the ball even though he hasn't had prior opportunity. It results in a lot of "soft" HTB decisions when others that appear to be breaches of the fundamental rule are let go (what does "immediately" mean when you are spun around three times?). This actually worked in the Dockers favour several times at the Subi end of the ground.

i still don't get the new holding the ball system. i don't think the umpires do either, really. i saw one bit where a geelong player was tackled and just dropped the ball. no attempt to kick, just dropped it. the umpire said he'd handpassed it with two open palms and it was play on.
and the throws... i'd like to watch the game just to see how many throws there were. obviously it's not always front on to the umpire but surely an umpire could say "he's got one arm pinned to his side, how can he then handpass it?" but no, they just call play on. i was particularly incensed when there was a blatant throw coming out of the centre square. the adjudicating umpire didn't see it, but the umpire in the 50 metre arc was looking straight at it, nothing!
oh, and that bit in the second quarter when we had a mark in our defensive fifty. i forget who was taking it, but anyway, he stopped as soon as he took it, and then walked back, in line with the mark. could someone PLEASE tell me how that was play on??? sure enough he got done for holding the ball because he thought you were allowed to walk away from the mark!
