My take is the bloke now has others to help. He, Hill and Broughton are no longer Lone Rangers. The way I see it, the team has much greater depth, meaning the work load is distributed better.
For mine, he is putting in as much as he every has!
He just has a better team around him.

I think Nick has been given a tackling brief for this season. Hit 'em, hit 'em often, hurt 'em when you do it. He's sacrificing the skillful side of his game to be fashioned as our premier hard man in the premiership engine room.

+1 FreoBear, as I believe they say on those discussion board thingamyjigs nowadays.
Carried a heavy load last year. Carried it well. If he wasn't on the paddock there would be a big hole with naked goals showing through.

Polly, just put this in perspective then.
Some players don't start the season off flat out and in great form and touch.
Last year Nic Suban was a high percentage player for Freo and some people feared that both he and Hill may suffer from " second year blues " so good was their debut year.
I agree with you in that he hasn't reached the level that he did last year. Not bad but not great.
If we are winning games and Suban is yet to hit his top form of last year what does that say about our overall level of improvement ?
I reckon he's set to go off like a fire cracker ; perhaps this contract agreement is the trigger that's just been pushed.

Against Adelaide, Suban had 22 disposals and 5 tackles and was in listed (3rd) in Fremantle's Best players on WAToday.com. I thought he was in the best as well.
He had a quiet game against Essendon, but by my thinking that's only one quiet game.
Very glad to have him stitched up for a couple of years. He is an awesome team player.

The kid wears his heart on his sleeve. You can plainly see his frustration and annoyance if he gets pinged for an over exuberant tackle.
