Freo Sneak Back Under Radar Fremantle have continued their successful 2010 tactic of playing it coy and keeping a lid on things, refusing to get sucked into playing a May final against Collingwood, handing the Pies their much cherished May Premiership and keeping the purple powder dry for the all important months ahead. Collingwood took things much more seriously than the Dockers, throwing everything and the kitchen sink (which they pinched from the hotel bathroom) and getting out to a hefty early lead. Fremantle tightened up in the second quarter but weren't prepared to go blow for blow the the Magpies in the second half, letting them get away with a 36 point win and handing them top spot on the ladder.
Race You To the Top Fremantle have wasted no time bringing back Alex Silvagni, knowing that just hearing the name Silvagni sends most Collingwood players into a cold sweat, not to mention the benefits of his arsekickery skills which were sorely missed last week. Mark Harvey hasn't left the mind games there though, he's also brought Garrick Ibbotson back three weeks early and hidden him away in a back pocket. Meanwhile Grover, Suban and Kepler Bradley will sit on the emergency bench, breathing down the Freo defenders necks just in case one of them thinks he can leave the ground without spilling at least some of his opponents blood. From the visitors, Collingwood have dumped Paul Medhurst with a 'foot' injury and brought in John Anthony to hold up the goalpost instead.
Freo Formguide: Freo v Collingwood Here's a lost of things you might see from most likely to least likely - Toothy chickens, blue moons, flying pigs and Collingwood travelling to Perth. So watch your fingers when feeding the chooks and get the bacon net out because this week the black and white circus will descend upon Fremantle. The Magpies are back in Freo for the second time in six years, after the AFL decided they didn't want the Dockers playing on the MCG this season and Collingwood figured that if they were going to have to get into a bus and travel to another ground, they may as well get on a plane too. Of course, parole commitments being what they are in Victoria these days, the players had to be back in time to check in for the weekend so the game will be played on a Friday night under the full scrutiny of Australia (at least until about 10 o'clock when they all look up the result on the internet before going to bed).
