Bruised and Battered Kittens

Even though they came out victorious today against the Hawks, it's gonna be a bruised and battered Geelong side that travels west for next weekends game. They had to scrap for everything today to get the win and I think this, coupled with one days less rest, and travel could see them being vulnerable prey for Freo.

Let's hope we run them off their feet and pummel them into submission.

The extra day's rest for Freo will be very handy, especially given that Geelong have played two grinding games in a row, both of which went down to the wire. Freo, on the other hand, have had relatively easy wins and while they certainly didn't ease off on the pressure on the opposition, there wouldn't have been quite the mental intensity that Geelong's been under.

So if you're going to go up against the reigning Premiers, it's a good time to do it – they're obviously vulnerable and could have lost both matches. The fact that they didn't means they're still a very dangerous side.

Remember last years game they only scored a lucky 1 point win in the Subi game against a talented but less experienced team. We now have more talent and more experience although replacements for injured players, especially Taz, is critical.
Worth more than a few Bob on a win at last odds I saw.

As long as we can keep on the pressure as we have for the past two weeks and don't fade at the end, I think we can pull off next week as a good win.

wtf is this "don't fade out at the end" carp myboys? That's not an issue at all. The lads would play 5 qtrs if they had too.

This game will be about matchups and strategy. They will have to think about us as much as we will study them. Michael Johnson could play a wing for a bit... Mayne could be a bit fast for some of thier defenders.. and Steve Johnson could be an intersting one for us. (not to mention the midfield battle)

Don't be suprised if Harves throws caution to the wind and goes for man on man for a while.

As we have done the last 2 matches - hit em hard and hit em often.

Not sure Scarlett would be making the trip even if his back was fine. Maybe his back injury is one of those bear things anyway.

I think his knee may be causing him more trouble over the next few days.

Rookie, we have been famous for our fadeouts in the past. Just because we have have had an excellent couple of games, doesn't mean it won't happen ever again.
I'm encouraging the boys to keep up the good work that they have done.
It doesn't look like it (but looks CAN be deceiving) but I hope the guys haven't run themselves raggard in the first few weeks. Though I'm sure that's not the case because with our positive thoughts and their powers combined, we can win.

It's our time.

Did anyone else watching that game reckon the umpires treated the Cats like a protected species, especially those of the strange breed that is without hair?

Continuing that theme, new rules applied today by the MCG umps.
1. Cats player gets two hands vaguely close to the ball before dropping it to the ground so clearly and visibly that even Rudi Koertzen could have spotted it = MARK (this rule was applied twice)
2. Cats opponent gets two hands within half a metre of the body of any Cat player = HANDS IN THE BACK (Applied about half a dozen times)

But I admit, Buddy Franklin ain't no Rhodes scholar, taking about 39 steps with a silly broad grin on his stupid mug, but forgetting to bounce the ball as he waltzed languidly into an open goal. Hard to fault the ump on that one.
