Silvagni

Let's not forget this bloke!

Very nice pick up by Freo, who have really excelled in their draft selections, on the back of the previous year's influx of talent.

Silvagni plays like a seasoned AFL player, and, while Barlow, Hill, Ballantyne and Mayne are deservedly copping the accolades, this bloke is up there with them, and what an inspired piece of recruiting that was.

As for Hill, anyone out there who would swap him for Rich?

If Brisbane threw in Johnson and a first round draft pick I'd think about it.

Love Silvagni's work. Was great to see both he and Tarrant kick goals yesterday. Nice way to stick it up the opposition, have your full-backs kick a few.

He's got to pick up a Rising Star nomination.

EDIT

You're right, superswede - he's too old. I was thinking of Morabito.

Sox, Johnson??? as in Travis Johnstone? The guy who was drafted at pick 1 the same year that we drafted James Walker?

he'll be 30 in july and you would have him included in a trade for Hill?

Stevedore, I suspect Silvagni would be too old for a nomination.

Silvagni is one of those great players who, while not possessing amazing physical attributes, just manages to do the right thing, really well, really consistently.

Shouldn't we be calling him "Flawless"?

BTW Everyone mispronounces that surname, in Italian it should be (something like) seel-VUN-yee

So only Italians mispronounce his name then.

Silvagni & the young guns

Hats off to the Freo recruiting team, they have finally pulled together a group of exciting, gritty and skilled youngsters.

Silvani looks like a long term prospect. Mora's gonna be a star. Broughton, Van Berlo, Suban, Mayne, a fit Palmer - all 200+ gamers in the making.

Bugger Rich, we'll keep Hill any day. The kid has sublime foot skills and a level head too. The Mayor is a ripper - provided Barry Hall doesn't flatten him.

Was at the game, and two seats away was SOS ( and Ross Lyon). Either he was there to see his Cugino or check out the new forward threat coming in a fortnights time...either way he would have been impressed
