From what I'm intrepreting, he is basically saying that he would rather see a poorer brand of football?

What I really hear is: "Once the game starts me and my buddy Suma try to follow it as best we can, but all these changes are really confusing. Can we slow it down and play it like we did 10 years ago so that we have half a chance to keep up? You're making it very hard for me to keep up this charade and fool people into thinking that I'm a good coach."
