Hase a top 6 debutant

I remember Hase's first game and it's great to see that others haven't forgotten. It's rare to see a Docker recognised in these lists from the East.

Is it wrong of me to think that would have been slightly more brag-worthy for Hase if he hadn't been beaten by Warren Ralph? Blimey.

Though admittedly, Warren's debut seems to have been against North Melbourne. Maybe the Krakouer brothers were still passing to him that day, out of sheer habit...

"Try to imagine a debutant going out this weekend and booting 12. You can't because it won't happen."

By this reckoning, I'm a chance to be reborn as Jennifer Hawkins' G-string simply because I imagined it happening.

Bit of a forehanded insult to Hase in there:

"Has continued to perform at the same level but, arguably, never better than day one."

I'm surprised Andrew Walker's debut for Caaarlton didn't rate a mention.

Hase is one of my favourite players of all time (Dale Kickett, Paul Mifka, Peter Bell, Laurie Keane [my selective memory only remembers him playing for Subi] are others), but he has had to deal with a buggered back interspersed with hernias for most of his career, plus the knee.

It's testament to his grit and determination that he has managed to consistently rack up 20+ possessions and a stack of clearances a game since his first couple of injury-free seasons despite essentially running on empty for the duration.

I hope they can keep him going somehow because he is still a star and the sort of guy that would lift and win a GF (dominating from the middle before getting a bit sore, moving forward for the second half and kicking 5...Norm Smith).

That said, the other day on Foxtel I stumbled across a game from his first year, and my god! Do yourself a favour.

He's a brilliant footballer and a damn nice guy as well. I have a hell of a lot of man love (nothing suss) for Hase and I hope he's got at least a couple more years left in him.

It's great to see him getting a bit of the recognition he deserves from the east coast although I doubt it means much to him but it does to the fans.

Interesting that Hase is the only current player on the list, and in fact the only one since 1989 - impressive
