no, shane, you're not.
Am I the only one that thought the important issue of respect for womn in the AFL system was buried under ranting about high bumps in that article?
it's ok that women are treated as second-class citizens and private pictures of them are distributed widely as long as professional athletes don't get there heads touched.

Not sure we are reading the same article, Sox.

He covered the Bingle business before the head bump and pretty got it right. The AwFL just wants the whole to go away rather than dealing with it correctly.

Mind you, the victim in this case hasn't helped matters by refusing to lodge a complaint or make herself available to the AwFL.

I think Smith's criticisms are valid...which is unusual for him. Mind you, he has barely scratched the surface of issues with AwFL so I would hardly call it even a half-way decent analysis...which IS typical for him.

His criticism doesn't seem to be about the way anything has been done, just the way it's been told to him.

Andrew Demetriou said this about soccer. The Match Review panel said this. Andrian Anderson had a funny look on his face when he was saying something.

He reckons there's a cover up, and there may well be, but the cynical would suggest he's too bloody lazy to lift up a cover to see what's underneath.

and don't get me started on Gary Adshead writing questions in the paper instead of answers.

Frankly, I think showing up the two-facedness (??) of the AwFL is a good thing. Even if his motives are generated from bone laziness, his highlighting of the inconsistent public statements is long overdue.

Still cant figure out why he rated eyebrows and his dancing monkey as high as a D. Pretty generous in my view.

I have no problem with him showing it up. Ideally he would show it up while it was happening though and reveal some facts that we unaccredited members of the public don't know.

But it's typical Patrick Smith stuff. Rocking up at the party a day late then complaining that no one would dance with him.

Come on Shane. I think you're being a bit hard on Mr Smith. He's a gossip columnist, not an investigative journalist. And a fairly entertaining one at that.

And it seems ("an AFL spokesman told colleague Greg Denham the match review panel took the height factors of the two players into account") that Sandi is going to be able to knee most players in the head with impunity, so it's all good.

The height differential defence wasn't allowed when Buddy copped a few weeks for a fairly decent hip and shoulder on Benny boy last season...

But when was the AFL ever consistent?

A fuss is made because a player got his jaw broken when not in play and nobody got suspended! Remember all the fuss when Sandilands got his jaw broken in the derby a few years back?? No?? Me neither. That's right, he plays for Fremantle
