The Value of Experience
#299946
There are a lot of people about who think youth is everything and experience counts for little in football. As the local deros cleaned my windshield again this morning, I was reminded of the value of experience when I saw the picture on the back page of the local paper.

If you had to give any advice to the kids out there trying to make it in this AFL game, I think it would be that no matter what they say to you - don't put the cape on.

A lesson Chris Mayne is sure to have learnt.

I wonder who the kids liked the best though?

Absolutely right Icon. Being able to look stupid for the sake of the kids (and enjoying it) should be what sets our players apart from the ooftits. Well done Chris.

And just be thankful it was a manly cape and not a girly poncho...

I think he's demonstrating how to use a fire blanket.
Very sensible advice to pass on.

Either that or he's gradually unwrapping one of the Dockettes.

I must have copped the extra early edition, then... the one where the muppet from the Worst asked Des if the team was scarred by the scoreline of our last game against the Crows.

"Hadnt thought about it at all until you mentioned it" was Des's response, as quoted in the rag.

There's a good illustration of the same thing.

You just know Chopper likes a bit of dress up though. Good on him, too.

'King of the Kids'. Enjoying a day off and just caught on the news our Chris, who was not only wearing the cape but appeared to thoroughly enjoying it, dancing and swooping around. Already a firm favourite in our house, having admired my daughter's 'I hate west coast' badge at a game in Melbourne, his sense of fun and generosity of spirit will serve him well throughout his career.
