v Adelaide?

Are these our best and brightest to start the year? Sure we have played honourable others, for example Fyfe, Silvagni, Van Berlo, Hinkley, Bollenhagen, Roberton, and Walters but I can't see them getting a crack first game - can you?
First 17 - these I consider certainties if fit.
211, Pavlich, Tarrant, Johnson, McPharlin, Mundy, McPhee, Barlow, Crowley, Broughton, Mayne, Duffield, Suban, Hill, Hasleby, Hayden, Ballantyne,
Next 9 - The best of the rest and only 5 slots available. And one of those I'd think needs to be a ruckman so I'm thinking Clarke ahead of Bradley. Next maybe Morabito cos he needs games under his belt. And Headland for his experience. And the others (two?)?
Clarke, Morabito, Headland, Ibbotson, deBoer, Dodd, Pearce, Schammer, Bradley
injured Palmer, Grover

Larkin, I think Ibbo is a lock for round one with the other 17 you mentioned, even though his pre-season has been pretty average, Harves rates him pretty highly.
But I'd also add DeBoer and Silvagni after seeing us get pummelled by the bigger bodies yesterday, I think they give us a bit of size and depth in the midfield and down back.
Oh and of course, Stompy is a lock.

In support of my friend's nomenclature, Dodd has to be in the 18.

Yep, Stomper's a goer for sure. Mike Pearce/DeBoer/Silvagni/VB can't play unless elevated - everyone knows who I'd bring in (Pearce) but I reckon DeBoer has to be a goer for that lumbering midfield of the Crows (even though VB has shown some fantastic form in the preseason). Dessie has to be in the side; Buckets is straight out of the colts side down at Mercury's WAFL team (and may need some more cooking before being served up on Rnd 1). Houghton (great mark, straight set shot kicker) will replace Spud as a CHF option - let Spud have some fun with the new Rioli down at Souths before bringing him back as a tall forward to whack a handful against the girls from up the road.
I'd let Mike's Walters and Pearce get the Black Ducks on track (and some Kraks schooling) and then introduce them as a pair TOGETHER for a few games from Rnd #5.

I heard on 7 news that Silvagni had been upgraded.
I'm thinking we'll be Dodd-less in Rd 1

He'll have to learn some tricks from the wily old Stompy Dodd.
Namely:
Lesson one: Stompin'
Lesson two: Aggravatin'
Lesson three: 80% magic 20% clang
Lesson four: see - lesson one.

Ibbo Schammer, Headland, Bradley
De Boer is a big loss if he's not allowed to play.
Schammer for fantastic effort and for getting 4 out of 5 Aussie PMs on the footy show - way ahead of the field. And I'm sure he was being ironic when he said George Bush.
Love watching Byron have a go, hoping he'll do something good, and the pride when he occasionally does. Big Byron fan.
We won't need Dodd so much against a depleted attack in a defensive side. Des needs to prove that he can do something up front.
