How many and where
#300157
Having read all those twats in the weekend newspaper on ladder placings, now would like to hear from the people who know and count most, you guys.

Ok, so how many and what position on the ladder for Freo in 2010. Also who will be our fairest and best in 2010!

No ranges allowed just number of wins and ladder position.

I think:
Wins - 10
Ladder position - 9th.
F & B - M Johnson.

And the eagles will finish eighth, of course.

Well I'm looking at the dreadful start we have to the season and the number of youngsters who will be getting games this year and I'm predicting...

Leigh Colbett has it right and given future teams coming in thus the draft is futile we will continue to rise simply because our draft choices for the next couple of years will come from the rookie list

Expectations and predictions don't sit well with me... probably because I had it all mapped out at age 12 or so and it went incredibly pearshaped shortly after I discovered beer, motorcycles, loud music and women.

Turning 16 was a solemn time of reflection and reappraisal, I can tell you.

So you've got us finishing second as well. Wouldn't it have been a lot quicker just to have said that?

Why wouldn't we finish second? Even Geelong's coach is distracted by the Ablett contract, so goodbye Geelong. St Kilda can't possibly sustain anything, and with the Lovett scandal they've self-manufactured the only direction they're looking at is down. Carlton are kidding themselves. Adelaide's a team of retirees, and their sports sciency guru is about to look like one of the biggest chooks in the history of our beautiful game. Voss thinks he's God's gift but he's about to find out that Fev's ego is around 27.5 times bigger that his, and Fev's ego will win. Hawthorn fluked it once, but they'll never fluke it twice. And so it goes.

Leaving Collingwood as the dark horse, for the simple reason that the draw is designed to make them top 4 year in, year out. Pity Malthouse isn't a good enough coach to get them into the top 4 every year, but I'm sure Eyebrows has had a word to him about it and said, 'Look, even if you stuff it royally again, we've got the umps on red alert to fling you a few close ones. Eddie wouldn't have it any other way.'

Oh, that's right. What about Footscray?

Two words: Barry Hall.

Plus another two words: old age.

Hall will do long periods of time and, when the senior citizen types start doing soft tissue injuries, the wheels will come off for the Doggies. Or not. In which case, Footscray to win minor premiers.

Otherwise, the AFL's preferred option: Collingwoood on top. (AFL in prone.)

So who's gonna be second? Obviously, us. So long as our senior players (who ain't nowhere near as senior as Footscray's senior players) stay fit.

If it's Colingwood in the granny, we win.

If it's Footscray ... I can't see us. Not quite.

I'm with you, China, re variables ie 'unqualifiables', but I'm probably not quite as optimistic. Every supporter of every club is fired up & hopeful at this time of the year & the really strong, addictive pull for us as supporters is the glorious uncertainty of what might happen as the season unfolds.

Every club that plays finals & has success in a given year, is blessed with a healthy playing list. We had ample evidence of how injuries can destroy a club's season in '09, a fact which those outside the 'Freosphere' barely acknowledged, but why should we expect anything different?

It sure will be interesting, so BRING IT ON! Peregrine falcons, wedgetail eagles - & crows, of course - should be well fed next Sunday.

But I did chuck a lazy $10 down for us to play off against BBBaz and the boys in the Granny @ $251.
