We REALLY missed Mundy

We really really need Mundy ASAP. Let me explain.
What really frustrates me is that most of the guys on the field tonight have lived through FLOGGINGS before.
Supposely have an massive talent influx over the last two years, making competion for spots tight. So where the hell was the gritting of teeth and put bodies on line?
We've had cream puff direction in the midfield tonight, our promising midfielders Ibbo,Hill,Suban,Pierce got shellshocked, they didn't know what to do but thats understandable. What we NEED is a senior player directing traffic, rallying the troops doing that stupid hand clap thing.
Than it occur to me...this is what Mundy does. He has become that offical high command midfield general. He was leading brillantly by example over the last couple of weeks and we won.

Shouldn't that be Haselby's job?
I hate bagging our players but I have to confess that I haven't seen much of his brilliance lately.

Freofanatic, you make a good point. Not only has Mundy been in great form himself, but he's been doing a lot of directing traffic.
I think this has broader implications for the difference between our performances recently and what we can expect when we get our best team on the park. Each of those 8 or so best 22 that were left out will add their own value (look at how the centre square was transformed when Roger joined the first few bounces at the beginning of 3rd Qtr), but there will also be an additional improvement by them working together.
Presumably Harvs will want to get closer to a round 1 side next week - and Geelong will probably be similar - so it should be an interesting game.

Thats an interesting point kidmaple. Do we play our ready to go side or continue the experimentation. I'm a bit both ways (no snide remarks please).
Have the decisions been made yet on who to elevate? Maybe.
Would we want to risk injury with a hell for leather encounter on an almost meaningless game? Certainly not.
Would we play 211 with a near best line for say a quarter - I'd be tempted.
But for the most part imho you'd want to continue to test the players - both in and out of position to see what they have to offer. Geelong will want to do the same. And unless there were good reasons I wouldn't be playing guys who haven't shown enough to be in the reckoning.

Yeah but he's also got Grover going onto the long term injury list so take it with the traditional desal plant run off.

I agree to an extent.
It was only a NAB cup game, but I expected a bit more hunger from the boys.
