Looks like remantle oval might be up for a face-lift, and perhaps a bit of social interaction.

Although I hate the way some Victorian Football club's use Pokies to suck the pensions out of the locals I quite like the idea of Fremantle oval having a Pub attached to it where i could sit in pruple paradise and look at the the Derby trophies over a few "pots" of "draught" on a friday night.

I want the two Fremantle WAFL clubs having their home ground needs satisified before a soccer team.

Fremantle oval should be the home of Fremantle, South and East Fremantle football clubs. You would get a WAFL game at the oval every week there.

Logistically it would work fine and I think Freo Oval would be a very special place indeed with all that history and success in one place.

Does our CEO get all this, hard to know in and amongst all the KPI's, stakeholder engagement, brand elements, strategic vision and gant charts?

He's a busness man, hence the KPI, strategic planning, bollocks.
Surely any business man could see financial benefit of having an extra 'brand' (club) on his venue, especially a brand that might bring the right 'brand values' (history of onfield success) into association with his brand.
It's just logical.

Without dragging the debate down to one of suburban rivalry, yes in short. East Freo are going to bring a s*** load of every thing to Freo Oval.

Hate to use the word but there are "synergies" in terms of rent and up keep of the oval and surrounding area.

You get a home game at Freo Oval each week and it becomes a place that is home to East Freo's very large supporter base.
So its inclusive, all Freo people will go there to have a coffee or a feed or whatever.

It makes the oval that is located in the heart of Freo stronger and it makes Freo football stronger.

But it won't happen, sounds like Spearwood United are gonna play there or something.

I submitted a carefully considered plan to Steve suggesting that Fremantle move to the Claremont Showgrounds. He said that he would consider it before pushing a button on his desk. Surprisingly, I was soon escorted out of the office.

I'm certain that we'll soon see a report about the EFFC and SFFC wanting to re-home with the beloved purple to a more central location. You heard it here first, people.

One major element missing from Steve's master plan is the list of steps to be taken to de-register that low life fiddly kidding substance abusing bunch of crims up the road.

Significant omission, Steve!

I'm all for this. Easts and Souths both had Freo oval as their home ground in a by gone era. So in once sense it would be like East Freo returning home. I know there will be those punters in not wanting to change but East Freo are not doing too well financially these days.

If they could gurantee a Freo (Easts or Souths) at 2:20pm start each Satruday afternoon at Freo oval then I could be enticed to support the WAFL a lot more.

My head nearly exploded reading this

It is more of a holistic approach, looking at Fremantle Oval and the precinct to ascertain with stakeholders that are here and perhaps others that are not here yet on how we can set up Fremantle Oval for the future. That would include ensuring we are at the forefront here with our own facilities for our football team.

Sounds like they've hired the same bloke who does Colin Barnett's planning.

South Fremantle aren't going to give anything up, the City of Fremantle aren't going to let you touch the car park and the heritage council won't let you build in front of the gaol.

Fair enough then!

Tell 'em all to get knotted and move the club and all down to Moss Street...and let sowfs go down the drain.

Shane you would redevelop South Freo's clubrooms, no heritage issues, though you never know with Cigga, he probably thinks the rooms are the 8th natural wonder of the world!

Close together does not mean shared either.

As for Souths pushing back on it knowing them I think they would but I am not too sure what clout they would have if it were the collective will of the WAFC, Fremantle FC and the council.

If they are planning on accomodating a soccer team then they can plan on accomodating a football team.

Fremantle offered to do all sorts of things for South Fremantle when they were trying to build the current club rooms. If anything, South Fremantle have become more anti-Dockers over the years as all the types still waiting for this AFL nonsense to fall over have signed up.

I don't reckon they'd even give permission for Fremantle to put a commemorative plaque to Stephen Michael on the western side of the oval. There's very little chance they will get involved in close together facility. There's even less chance they'll agree if East Fremantle are anywhere near the place.

They just don't make paper bags that big.
