Week one of the Glenmorangie Finals Series and the Stones Green Ginger Wine Richmond Cup was decisive. If not for the close match where Sonia’s Spurrs fell just short against Joe’s Nobodies, we could have claimed one of the most one-sided rounds of the DuFFLe ever.
- Kaykups (142) defeated Willsie Aeroplane (126) at Stadium Royale
- Covfefe Covfefes (161.5) defeated Dreamers (146) at Trump Towers
- Hermes' Hermits (121.5) lost to Marauding Souls (137) at Mount Olympus
- Slammen's Men (127.5) lost to SoS Superstars (170) at OH YEAH Stadium
Oos and 391 move straight into the Preliminary Finals with wins over Blocker and Nelson. I think the Kaykups will need the week off for retrospection as Oos’s boys won, but WillsieAir did not put up much of a fight. In contrast, however, the Covfefes are ominously good. Due to their excellent HomeNaway, the Willsie Aeroplane and Dreamers get to play next week. This is not the case for the losers of the Elimination Finals.
Straddo has the edge over me and his Souls was again spooked my team and left me regretting a key draft blunder back in March. Slammo, too, gets to sit on the sidelines and plot out his 2019 retribution as Biz’s Superstars streak of white hot form has continued.
To the Richmond Cup…
- El Primero (151) defeated Ingredients (133.5) at Estadio Busselona
- Jolly Jokers (147) defeated Piglets (123) at Funny Farm
- Knight Riders (116) lost to Thundering Chooks (164) at Hasselhoff Park
- Sonia's Spurrs (128) lost to Notreally Nobodies (131) at The Craypot
- Hooley Dooleys (112.5) lost to Purple Jedis (167.5) at Pickle Park
Cookie’s final game for 2018 was quite impressive. 133 points would have defeated three teams in the top eight this week; but alas Cookie was playing MattyT and El Primero sealed their spot in the Richmond Cup Final with an impressive 151 points.
The Captain’s Jokers proved too strong for FD’s Piglets and I’m certain that this season will spur on FD1016 for next year. Speaking of spurs, Sonia bows out after a close loss to Joe’s Nobodies. Joe would have learnt a lot from the Nobodies’ inaugural season and one might suspect that Joe will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come.
Moptop and Alvin scored heavily in defeating PK’s Knight Riders and Polly’s Hooley Dooleys. Great… Scoring heavily in the Richmond Cup… Where was that form in the HomeNaway? Oh well.
So, farewell to Slammo, Cookie, FD1016, PurpleKit, FreoSonia, and Polly. Hope to see you back in the game in 2019. I do invite you to stay abreast of the DuFFLe games to follow over the next three weeks. Lots of support for the remaining teams, and derision, is encouraged.
