Sometimes You Just Have To Clap Okay, so I’m old. Next year I commiserate my 60th birthday in March but with these years I have gained some perspective. I remember when... (“Oh no”, I hear you groan. “Some old bastard telling age-old stories.”)... Bjorn Borg fought with John McEnroe through the late seventies and early eighties. Borg was the Federer of his time and McEnroe was Darth Vader. But just as the empire did strike back with devastating consequences, as much as you loved Borg’s good guy you had to admit the McEnroe was a force to be respected and feared. It is time we did that for Slammo. This brash, in-your-face enfant terrible of the DuFFLe has some talent. Yes, his defeats are celebrated but geez he is good. This week he manipulated Slammen’s Men to a ten point victory over Sonia’s Spurrs. Now don’t think the Spurrs rolled over for Slammen’s Men, far from it. They had a great team and scored accordingly. But Slammo picked the best possible team he could (zero difference against the If Only score) and knocked off the Spurrs to regain top spot on the DuFFLe ladder. Now that deserves plaudits. Talking of old men, Oos regained some form this week with a commendable victory over Alvin’s Jedis. And Old Man Blocker failed to wake in time to get WillsieAir ready for their contest and they were decimated by the Souls accordingly. The Superstars and Jokers, too, decimated their opponents and gave their 2018 campaigns some hope. And as much as he protests his team’s favouritism, Joe’s Nobodies again rattled up a big win against everyone’s second team, the Hooley Dooleys. The Nobodies are a team to watch. Not surprisingly, the Riders were too good for my Hermits and FD’s Piglets hardly squealed when they were stomped upon by Nelson’s Dreamers. MattyT has a formidable team. A team that puts him as a favourite for the DuFFLe premiership for 2018. Unfortunately, the Covfefes did know that and they scored a near record score of 198 to defeat El Primero.
