TOPIC: 2013: Round 19 Selections and Preview

Mercury 2013: Round 19 Selections and Preview 10 years 9 months ago #1

Mercury
Come 7:50pm on Friday, North Melbourne will be demolished by Geelong at Etihad Stadium so your team for Round 19 needs to be posted to this thread by 5:40pm WA time.

Finals Warm-up

Sandi and Slammo are expected to have a light training run this weekend in defeating the Hooley-Dooleys and Schooners respectively. Davo's Killers are after an easy win, too, and although the Bags are towards the bottom of the ladder, they have some prized scalps attached to the belt.

Oos is hoping that Davo loses as a win against Nelson's Players will find him swapping places with Davo and securing a double chance in the Krug Final Series. A win by the Dreamers, however, will see Nelson added to Davo's Christmas card list.

In the Blue Nun Richmond Cup, DMan's Chevrons line up against the Willsie Aeroplane. The winner of this game ends up 9th and is likely to have a dream ride through to the Richmond Cup final.
  • The Emperors v The Procrastinators at Peninsula Palace
  • The Players v Purple Caviar at CockBurn Stadium
  • Gas Giants v Dreamers at Keplar37-b
  • The Chevrons v Willsie Aeroplane at Armidale Park
  • Hypen's Heroes v Bloody Valentines at The Stalag
  • El Primero v Sos Superstars at Peptide Park
  • Hooley-Dooleys v Dirty Eyes at Pickle Park
  • Nail Bags v Head Duck Killers at Hardware Park
  • Slammen's Men v The Schooners at Slaughterhouse

I figure Sandi ended up a Reid short of a full woodwind section, myself - but can still crank out the Acker Bilk classics week in/out. Naturally, with a stylish flair for the bizarre, the Hooleys are more inclined to enjoy this type of music than the Big Crass Band stuff coming from Slammer and his squad of parolees we faced last week.

Unfortunately for El Primero, Saad has clearly not been taking anything this season that has been performance enhancing.

BREAKING NEWS! Spencer Alive, Superstar's Not Dead!

Shane's ruck rule is proving true over at SoS Superstars, making sure to injure any quality ruckman when another is returning. Dawson Simpson went down last weekend continuing a run of only 1 fit and available ruckman at a time since Rd 1.

At first it was Mark Jamar leading the ruck for the club before injury crueled him mid season. Coming in that same week to make his debut for the season was Jake Spencer, fulfilling the role until suspension saw him take a 4wk holiday and remain unable to break back into the Melbourne side. Luckily that was the exact week Dawson Simpson returned to play his first game of the season and perform strongly.

This brings us back to this weekend with Spencer finally returning and providing the Star's squad with a ruckman. Oh mighty ruck gods, we thank you for this bounty and are willing to make any sacrifices necessary to keep him on the park for the next month!
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.
