Who’s Going to Win?
Oh boy, we have some doozies here. Firstly, Slammo-Jnr v The Colonel. Both teams are unaffected by the bye although The Colonel does have Faye (GWS) in his squad so then it comes down to the footy talent and the coach’s ability to put the players into their best scoring positions. Slammo-Jnr is struggling in the ruck and it won’t be any better this week. The Colonel, however, has the magnificent Gawn who will rack up many a point. Jnr has the edge across the midfield, forwards and backs but it is a very fine edge and might not be enough to get over the line. Having said that, Jnr has shown himself to be a better selector than The Colonel so far this year. Slammo-Jnr by two points.
When The Captain invites El Primero down to the Beerporium this week, his awaiting squad will be somewhat diminished as he has Brown, Green and Taylor resting due to the bye. MattyT only has Whitfield unavailable - although that is a “big” out. Even though MattyT’s selection strategies appear to be his biggest problem, I can see El Primero doing it easy this Easter Round.
Straddo v Bizkit. Oh dear. The Stars will wallop the Souls. Look away now.
Both BomberTroy and Cookie have some key players out this week so it will come down to depth and I have to lean the way of the Ingredients. Cookie by twenty-two points.
We round off the Easter games with two rippers: BossHog v Moptop and FD v The Blocker. Moppy rightly sits atop of the DuFFLe ladder but he will be challenged this week. BoosHog has a full squad to choose from whereas Moppy will lose Noah Anderson (big loss) as well as Finn Callaghan and Nick Haynes. The last two players aren’t much chop, so Moppy has to cover for Anderson. I don’t think he will. The White Rabbits will lose to the Dukes by fifteen. FD is missing a few this week: Ash, Briggs and Coniglio with Coniglio being her biggest out. Blocker’s outs are Collins, Flanders, Kelly, King and Power with Flanders and Kelly hitting his scoring power hard. FD’s Bay Bros will win by eight points.
