Welcome to Round 0.



The AFL season commences this Thursday evening (March 7) when the Sydney Swans host the Melbourne Demons at the SCG. Bouncedown is at 4:30pm so you need to have your bye-afflicted team submitted to this thread by 4:20pm this Thursday.

The only players you can choose this week will come from the AFL clubs Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Carlton, Gold Coast, Richmond, GWS and Collingwood.

So, who are playing who?
  • BossHog (Luke's Dukes) v FD1016 (Bay Bros) at Hazard County Ground
  • Bizkit (SoS Superstars) v BomberTroy (El Bombres) at STFUppercut Stadium
  • Cookie (Ingredients) v MattyT (El Primero) at Kitchen
  • CaptDazza (Jolly Jokers) v Slammo-Jnr (Slammen's Saviours) at Beerporium Balcony
  • Moptop (White Rabbits) v Straddo (Souls) at Wonderland
  • The Blocker (Willsie Aeroplane) v TheColonel (Carpark Trannies) at Blockerdrome

The new boy in the DuFFLe takes on the seasoned FD1016 in what should be a memorable contest. We know that the Boss got a lot of help from FD when picking his squad of Dukes and, one suspects, that FD helped him too much. Bizkit also helped MattyT with his squad selection but Biz faces the much improved El Bombres and BomberTroy may well have an opening salvo to be feared. MattyT is challenged with the might of Cookie’s Ingredients and may need the vagaries of the opening round plus the bye influence to get El Primero over the line.

The Captain is not ready for Round 0 and this will put the Jokers a step behind as Slammen-Jnr is ready. Very ready. This is similar to our 2023 champion Straddo who was also somewhat unprepared for the AFL’s so called Opening Round but the Souls have a good squad. Trouble is, so does Moptop.

To close off our first fixture Blocker’s WillsieAir takes on fan-favourite the Carpark Trannies which would be a fitting end to our first DuFFLe round for 2024. Good luck to all. You’ll need it.

The Jolly Jokers, hoping to teach the young whippersnapper a lesson.

In reality the last time I played a debutant in Rd 1 was a couple of years ago when BomberTroy gave me a spanking in a huge upset, giving me even more reason to dislike his Bombers.

Bare bones this week, had to trade out one of my favourite forwards in Darcy Fogarty in order to name a full team.
