Who is residing towards the bottom of the DuFFle ladder? These franchises will definitely be in the Richmond Cup contest for 2018. Why are they there and not fighting out a top spot? Let’s have a look…

Cookie has no ruckman. In fact, electing a ruck before any other position on his team is pure folly. But the Ingredients’ backs and midfielders are solid, and Cookie’s forwards aren’t bad either. And if you look at Gunston with Stephenson up forward, you would think they have a competitive side. Not so. No ruck and average midfielders will kill you and it has killed off Cookie’s first attempt at the DuFFle.

FD is a smart cookie - pun intended. But she too has been done over with a lack of a dominant ruckman. At best, she could choose between Zac Smith and Cale Hooker - hardly household names in the Tap Department. The Piglets are well-served in the backline and the midfield, but similar to the ruck, FD’s forwards rarely generate a decent score.

I seem to be repeating myself, but Moptop has no ruck. Billy Longer occasionally does a job for him but, more often than not, Brendan Goddard will give the Thundering Chooks their best score. Read that last sentence again, dear DFFLers. Goddard is the Chooks’s best ruckman; and that is why they are cooked.

Alvin is sitting on the DuFFLe ladder with six wins and eleven losses. How the hell has that happened? Alvin has a good ruck - Kreuzer. Okay, so Kreuzer hasn’t been dominant, but he’s been solid. With Rampe and Howard as backs, and Sicily, Ross and Oliver racking up the points in the midfield. Something has gone way wrong. Alright, when you look at his forwards, they either do brilliantly or not. But still. The Jedis should be fighting for a top eight spot. It baffles me.

So Biz has Oos and Matty as his last two opponents? Winning the DFFL from there may be as glorious as my magnificent run from 8th in 2012, spear-headed by a purple patch from my main man Ryan Griffen. Or the similar but ultimately beaten run of Oos from 10th in 2015. I have this year given up trying to replicate the win from 8th since, and now prefer a shot at this double chance bizzo ;) Good Luck Friends.

It's effectively 6 finals matches in a row vs top 8 sides for the Stars to win another DuFFLe premiership.

It might be more practical to target our first Richmond Cup campaign! It's one way to avoid the inevitable "Stars lose another Prelim" quip.

If I could be bothered I could recruit 5 or 6 (I've lost count) new players before the end of the week, ok let's see, current LTI qualifiers

Throw in Lobbe that I have carried all year and hasn't been named once, in fact, the one week that my 2 other Carlton ruckmen Kreuzer and Phillips were both out injured and he would have got a call-up..... you guessed it he was injured. as well.

The two things that I am looking forward to for the rest of the season are seeing if Taberner plays a game before the end of Jedi's season and if Kreuzer misses another week and Lobbe gets a game at last.

The Purple Jedi's we are an any excuse club.
