Grand final progress report for anyone who's interested:

First game of the round was decidedly in my favour. Matt Crouch tallied a very healthy 29 in my midfield, while Jacobs scored a below-par 14 and Tex Walker had a dirty night with just the solitary behind.

Over at Simonds Stadium, sulky Hogan has just one point to three-quarter time, while Max Gawn is going ok after a slow start with 17 so far.

Meanwhile, Joe Daniher is kicking up a storm with 4.2 midway through the third. However, Zach Merrett has 25 disposals and looks like racking up a huge score.

At this point I'd say I'm slightly ahead but plenty of big guns to come for both sides.

Edit: Daniher just kicked his fifth.

So, 21 from my forwards is a score I can be happy with and puts me 23.5 points ahead with both rucks, 1 mid each and both my forwards to one of PK's played.

the Grand final is slipping away, Tom Lynch has 4 straight behinds and Schulz is sitting on my bench with 3 straight goals.

meanwhile Ward has a slight injury to his arm and is on only 17 as a mid near the end of the 3rd qtr.

Well done to Moptop in your first season, an incredible effort to win it all and I'll be aiming to knock you off next season. Also congrats to the Captain on winning the Richmond Cup.

I grabbed a beer and wandered the Billy Walker Room but without seeing Polly around I wasn't able to locate anyone else. I probably should have provided a description of myself for others to find (it's pretty easy being a 6'5 red head).

Thanks, everyone, and commiserations to PK - things didn't quite go your way this weekend and I had some good fortune when it counted most.

Thanks to you all for welcoming me into the competition. This has been the most enormous fun from draft night right through.

Most of all, thanks to Merc for running a flawless show. There's clearly a huge amount of effort that goes into making everything work, staying on top of all our various requests, trades and queries and crunching all those numbers.

I look forward to seeing you all again for the 2017 campaign!
