Round 2 commences Thursday with a 4:30pm bounce down. Remember that GWS and Gold Coast have byes this week, so don’t pick any players from those clubs. Of course, the STCs are available for selection. Teams need to be submitted by 4:20pm on Thursday.

Bomber Troy Challenges for the Sky


Will the great WillsieAir finally meet its aerial match when they host El Bombres at the Blockerdrome? BT will miss the services of Touk Miller and Stephen Coniglio but they have the midfield depth to overcome this bye setback. In contrast, The Blocker loses Finn Callaghan and Josh Kelly and they will need to find some midfield drive somewhere to compensate. Blocker has the edge up forward with the likes of Jeremy Cameron, but loses out in the backline to El Bombres. I think it will be close. BT by four points.

In the other games, Cookie will dispose of MattyT and Straddo will have a close battle with Moppy but will come out on top as Moppy will struggle without the dominant Witts. Biz’s crew looks too good for Luke’s Dukes, but Boss Hog has yet to pick up some STCs so this might change. The Captain and Steele should have a ding-dong battle but I reckon the Jolly Jokers will have the upper hand. Lastly, FD and The Colonel. Both have STC slots to fill and we might have to suspend judgement.

After the last few seasons, it's been rare we've had so many options all across the ground early in the season. Normally there's a few injured players carried into the season and a few more injured early for the year. It's always a good looking side when you can leave Sam Walsh on the bench. If he's playing semi injured from half forward then I'll let him sit there for a week or two until he gets a proper go of it in the middle.
