With the byes done and dusted for 2024 and many squads well-balanced, matches will be decided by adept coaching and, probably, inept coaching.
One of the most interesting games this round is between Bizkit and FD1016. The Superstars have flirted with form but found misadventure a more common outcome. The Bay Bros have resided higher up the DuFFLe ladder for most of the year and it has only been these recent Bye Rounds that have pulled them down. In any case, both teams sit just outside the top eight and both teams deserve a chance at premiership glory this year. Who will win? It is the Bay Bros for me - by twelve points.
El Primero will be too good for El Bombres and Straddo will not overcome the across the board strength of Luke’s Dukes. The Colonel’s Trannies will fall to Moppy’s Rabbits but then we get to Jnr v Cookie and The Blocker v The Captain.
In the Ingredients/Saviours game, this will be decided by the forwards. If Jeremy Cameron kicks a bundle Cookie will win. If not, Jnr’s combination of Waterman and Hipwood will steal the victory.
It will also be a close game between WillsieAir and the Jokers. Whereas The Blocker has the edge across the midfield and backs, The Captain has a better scoring ruckman in Oscar McInerney and this game could well be decided by forward power as well. Ben King and Joel Amarty (WillsieAir) v Jamara Ugle-Hagan and Charlie Cameron. If Charlie finds form against Melbourne, the Jokers could be climbing the ladder.
