Round 2 commences Thursday at 4:30pm WA time when St Kilda take on the Colliwobbles at the MCG. Your teams need to be submitted to this thread by 4:20pm on Thursday.



BYE Round 2
Byes for Brisbane and Carlton


Interesting match-ups in the official Round 2 when you consider Blues and Lions cannot be selected. Firstly, Blocker v Biz: With the Stars missing their only key forward (Daniher) due to the bye, WillsieAir has the upper hand with advantages obvious in the ruck and forward line. Blocker by 20.

The Colonel takes on MattyT this week and both are affected a little with the bye, but not much. El Hombres should dominate the midfield battle and this will ensure they have enough points to overcome the Trannies.

Slammo-Jnr is looking for his first win this week and this is likely. Neither team is in an adverse position due to the bye and the result will come down to this: Jnr will score poorly in the ruck but should make up the deficit in the midfield/backline tussle where BT will score well-enough but probably not good enough. The Saviours by three points.

Anytime you come up against Cookie’s Formidables this year you should drop to your knees and ask for mercy. I suspect Moptop won’t do that. After a fantastic result against The Blocker last round, the Rabbits are on the move. Moppy is good across all lines whereas Cookie is exceptional across the same. The Rabbits can win this week but they will need either injury or selection error for this to materialise. Cookie by fifteen.

The Captain takes on the rookie this week when the Dukes line up at the bar at the Beerporium. The Jokers lose their only ruckman (McInerney) due to the bye whereas Boss Hog loses Cripps. I suspect the detriment will be greater in the Captain’s score which gives Boss Hog the chance of victory. The Dukes by two points.

For our last game, FD is in trouble. The accursed bye sees the Bay Brothers lose Harris Andrews, Charlie Curnow and Hugh McCluggage. Straddo loses Harry McKay. The Souls haven’t fired a shot for 2024 as yet and this round will not given them that opportunity. FD, however, is hamstrung and Straddo will win doing a Bradbury - by seven points.

We come up against our old sparring buddy Blocker this week and we'll need a marked improvement from last week. Sicily had a reprieve at the tribunal and is even luckier to hold his spot in our team after that abysmal performance last week. Crouch meanwhile was terrible in his first game back from injury and has been thrown to the bench with Parish likely to make his way back. This will be a big match and I'm expecting a high scoring shoot out!

I find it interesting Hg has given the KOD to Blocker based on his ruck and forwardline advantage but I'm very happy for it. Given the only ruck Blocker has is about to be replaced by Draper while we enjoy the choice between 2 first choice ruckman and our forwardline is boosted by Lynch and Wright's positive returns from injury while Blocker is sweating on the fitness of Tex, the KOD is working to perfection!
