Mercury
The Lions host the Demons at the Gabba for the first game of Round 23 in the AFL which means your DuFFLe Finals team must be submitted by 5:40pm (WA time) this Friday. Bonne chance mes amis.

Krug Grande Cuvée Premiership Cup
Grand Final
  • Bizkit (SoS Superstars) v Cookie (Ingredients)

Richmond Cup Final
  • Ooslumbird (Knights in Purple Satin) v Pollyanna (Hooley-Dooleys)

Grand Final 2022

So, here it is. Bizkit, the super analytical doyen of the DuFFle. Cookie, the up and coming wiz who hopes to make his mark on DuFFLe history with prolonged success. The champ versus the challenger. Bizkit v Cookie. What a game this will be.

Cookie has the ruck position locked up with Witt but there is bugger-all between them in the midfield; both the Ingredients and Stars have impressive point-scoreres in the middle of the ground.

Bizkit is marginally better across the backline and also has the edge with the Stars' forwards. So, the Premiership is there for Biz to take. Cookie will need to thrash the Stars in the ruck to have a chance at holding the Krug Cup aloft, but I cannot see that happening.

In the Richmond Cup, Ooos has an enormous advantage with Maxy Gawn pulling in the big points week after week. But the Hooley-Dooleys have a dominant midfield so I’m calling it all square across these two lines. In the backs, Oos’s Knights are much better but Polly’s forwards have the edge in scoring. Unfortunately for the Hooley-Dooleys, the flighty forwards cannot be relied upon in a hard-fought final so it appears obvious that Oos will lift his first Green Ginger Wine Richmond Cup.

If OOS wins - I think he/she should come to WA to be presented with the GGW.

Geez, how good would that be, Colonel I well remember our old get togethers and always envy when you reprobates catch up, but unfortunately that is well nigh impossible at the moment.

And last time I checked it was he, although it is getting harder to tell.

Just a bouquet for Merc as we knock him for the "KOD." (and there go my chances incidently) He did tip our game to be won by a single digit margin, and you can't get any more single digit than one!
'
Sure would be nice to see Poll get his hat trick though.

As they say in the classics: yippity yip that's all folks!
Thanks to all Dufflers, it's been another terrific ride, it's something I look forward to every year(and there's been a few of them) This time around has probably been one of my worst efforts, but I'll give you the tip: be very frightened next season...
But win or lose, it's always enjoyable to be sort of together with all you people, many of whom have been with us as long as me, those I have been fortunate enough to meet have without exception been exceptional people.
Yep, Colonel, would certainly give an arm and a leg to get over there, but unfortunately my arm and leg wouldn't pass the pub test.
And how ironic that I end procedures with me old buddy Poll, but I know he won't be gentle with me this weekend. But all the best, Poll, catch up sometime I hope.
Not only, but also: Where would we be without our guru Merc? Thanks once again, Merc, another top effort!

knights:

BACKS: L Whitfield(GWS), L McDonald(NM)

FORWARDS: M King(SK), M Georgiades(Port)

What a champ, Oos - this competition is all the better with blokes like you in it. Naturally, a seasoned champ is someone you don't want to face in a do-or-die match for a bottle of grog - yet, whoever wins, I know we'll share the spoils together (somewhere/sometime). A three-peat win of the DuFFLe booby prize isn't something to shout from the rooftops about, but laughs and a few drinks with old friends is.

I'm putting up the same team as the past couple of weeks - I've looked at the averages, the games and weather on the weekend and I don't believe I could come up with a better squad. Who knows with Rozee - did his knee some damage a couple of rounds back but still seems able to get up every week and find plenty of the ball. Cripps and Little Stevie do ok, Nanky not bad, Charlie has been super all year and I'm banking on Tyson Stengle to have a big day out against those over-weight turtles playing with the OOFTITS. Mercury is right though - you can kill me in the backs and with Gawn. The ace up my sleeve? Mercury's KOD - that's gotta be worth 10+points.

So here's your opposition this week Oos:

Hooley-Dooleys
Richmondo Cup Final
vs
The Ooslumbird's Purple Knights

BACKS: Maynardo; Cumming.
MIDS: Cripps; Coniglio; Rozee.
FWDS: Curnow; Stengle.
RUCKLE: Nantuckle.

Pine: Big Ben McEvoy; Shultz; McGraw; Aliir+Aliir (which is such a neat name when you think about it - so easy to say, almost like a singsong - it kinda makes you wonder how good it would be if we just got rid of surnames and doubled up on our first names: Polly-Polly, Merc-Merc, Cook-Cook (hahaha, that's great)....

All the best Oos, it's always great - and all the best to our two competition champs going head-to-head at the top of the ladder, Biz and The Cookie.

Important Milestone FACT: this will be THE FIRST ROUND THIS YEAR where NO SLIME PLAYERS ARE INVOLVED.

Thanks for everything Mercury (and everyone now on holidays - you're a fun bunch) - keep living the dream Mercs - and GO FREO!

Even though I’m well and truly long gorn, it’s still such a pleasure to read all the comments on here, especially working out Polly’s hieroglyphics! (Bit unimaginative this week especially being a GF, Pol..)
However, Oos is an old favourite of mine, he seems a real gentleman through his words although my judge of character has been mightily questionable in the past.
A draw would be great between these two!
Haven’t had the pleasure of meeting Cookie, but Biz is a young wiz and should take home the biscuits especially when alcohol is at stake!
Good luck all!
Go Freo and Geebung!

Naturally you're assuming that meeting Cookie would be a pleasure. Hey, I'm not saying it wouldn't be - just inferring that it may not be....

The true mark of a gentleman is how he behaves in the Royal Hotel when a...ok, a dancer approaches him with a big jug asking him to support her next dance. I can assure you, TOTAL GENTLEMAN. LEGEND.

Geelong are known for playing silly buggers and messing around with teams and late inclusions amongst the fantasy footy community and they've pulled another one with Ceglar named as an emergency and Blicavs set to go as the solo ruck. I don't think this will be the case with Ceglar set to be a late inclusion but I don't want to gain an unnecessary advantage.

Brandon Ellis would be my ruckman if Ceglar doesn't play however I'd like to name Ceglar as my ruckman for his late inclusion as I'm confident he's likely to be a late inclusion. Am I able to name Ceglar as my ruck and nominate specifically Ellis off my bench to come in if he doesn't get the call up? I'm happy to play with 3 on the bench if Ceglar doesn't get the call up and just have Ellis automatically moved into the ruck. What do you think?
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I reckon Geebung are going with that big Islander bloke Esauva SomethingOrOther - Ceglar won't get a call up.
