There's a recent Podcast around featuring Brian Taylor talking about his 100 goal year in the late 80's.
Last game of the year he's on 99 and does his groin. Taylor insists on staying out there. At half time he still needs one more goal.
These are his words not mine and I'm not embellishing the story. Umpire Cameron said at half time, "don't worry get within proximity of the goals and we'll do the rest". And then there is footage of him getting a free, and his opponent is not in sight. He kicks 100.
After the game he asked the umpire, why when he never gets kicks. And he never did always whinging. They had 80/1 on him for the 100. The umpires did.
Can you believe that. Even in 1989. I can too.
