The natural inequities of the competition are a crutch to lean on for the AFL; they hide behind them. They don't try and mitigate it all, they just say, "well its naturallycompromised'. How about this, kms travelled equals number of home games?. Every 3000 kilometres you travel you get a home game.

Hypen, the only problem with your suggestion is that the AFL don’t necessarily want it to be equal.
It’s Victoria & fledgling markets (NSW & Qld) first and the rest (WA & SA) should be happy they are allowed to play in “our” competition.

The problems will remain for as long as the AwFuL remains so hopelessly conflicted and confused. It can’t be the $ making machine that promotes the professional game while also being solely responsible for maintaining sporting integrity. One of these two roles must always be subservient to the other.

You could have 2 victorian teams fly over for 2 consecutive games at Optus and thus have 2 doubleheader weekends where both WC & Freo play.
SA have the gather round, Northern states have that openining round bollocks, so why can't WA have the "Doubleheader blockbuster" week?
You could have WC play at home the week before these and us play at home the week after these... or viceversa.

The meeting of AFL and Victorian Clubs happened after the 2006 GH when interstate clubs won 6 in row premierships. Interstate clubs between 1992 - 2006 won 10 of the 15 GF's. Since that meeting the past 17 years only interstate teams have won three. ( Fluke by West Coast 2018 and two for Sydney Swans )
