.....soul destroying games in our history but that would rank up there with the worst for me. Not too many here seem overly upset? Are they better than everyone thinks or are we worse?

I'm bitterly disapointed. Teams can't be "up" for all 23 rounds, but to not get up for a Derby is concerning. We were flat as a tack. In hindsight, WC's performance against Sydney was highly creditable, then a week ago they steamrolled Richmond. Now they have blasted us out of the park. They are not the 2023 version of WC that we saw in rounds 1 and 2.

From a sports betting perspective that could actually be our worst loss EVER.

I can’t recall us losing to a team that was paying over $6 when week started and still high $5s at bounce down.

Personally I’m livid.

Our scores last four weeks 69, 63, 63, 68

There's so little between teams. The AFL media in assessing performance repeat the same talking points they just shuffle the names of teams. Last week it was the Bulldogs who then beat a Saints team flat on their feet.

This week it will be us, as follows:

Eagles closer to a flag than us.
We have to fix our ball movement and play through the corridor.
Longmuir is too defensive.
Where is this list at?

When in reality all that needs to happen is they wake up in their own beds most days and Bailey Banfield kicks straight 25 metres out even half the time.

All losses have context. In this case Freo fans processed the sports trauma of two gut punch losses by telling themselves that those losses actually demonstrated how close we were to the good teams in the league.

Then we lost to a team who aren’t very good and we also hate.

So it feels like three losses in one.

If we win 3 of the next 4, which I think we will, we won’t think much about it until the next Derby.

I don't care too much if they lose as long as they have a crack. There are no doubt reasons for that performance but ffs it's a derby and to lose like that against the slime is not ok. We used to beat the slime in derbies even when they had meth 'star quality' because of a mental attitude from people like the Carr brothers who refused to be beaten by them and played fierce enough to turn the result. Call me old fashioned, and perhaps I'm wrong, but the derby isn't just another game. If it is to the coach and the players then we've lost something at the club.

Last time we played them we belted them by 101 points.
As disapointing as it was, they got 37 points back.
I'm not too concerned about this isolated game, but i'm more concerned with rhe next one.
Surely, of all matches, we'll get up for this one.
The guys need a mental reset and some more troops.

The mid season Rookie draft is coming up and we have one pick. Is there any player in the country who is capable of kicking goals and able to be fast tracked into our senior line up?? This is vitally important priority at this stage of our season. 9 or 10 goals is simply not enough to win games no matter how good our defence is.

Longmuir and Pearce in post match interviews both mentioned WC big bodies were a problem. So what’s the implication, that we’ve got too many Mickey Rooney types and need to recruit some big bodies?Harley Reid is variously quoted as being 185 or 187cm, that’s hardly big now?
