agree with ya maynefan - Sharp has been under utilised, not only when free on the outside but also often when calling for the old "1-2" after he has dished it off

the kid can run, and can kick beautifully. I'd much prefer watching his kicks into forward 50 in years to come than the Acres bombs

Think the problem we now have, if you can call it a problem is that we have built a very good list with lots of quality and young developing backup players in all positions on the ground. When everyone is fit and running a lot of good players are going to miss out and some may wish to seek better opportunities elsewhere. At the end of last season I felt that JLo and list managers really didn't really want to make any delistings but are required to by the rules that make room for 3 compulsory picks at National Draft. Wilson and Colyer were victims of this situation and their delistings were very late as they seemed to be required players on short term contracts. This year will inevitably be the same with, as far as I can see, Tabs being the only obvious guy to go Next year Fyfe and Sonny's extended contracts run out so maybe action there. Hope we don't lose Banfield though.

The players out of contract at the end of 2024 are
Bailey Banfield
Conrad Williams
Corey Wagner
Ethan Hughes
Ethan Stanley
Josh Corbett
Liam Reidy
Mathew Taberner
Max Knobel
Nathan O’Driscoll
Odin Jones
Patrick Voss
Sam Sturt
Sebit Kuek
Tom Emmett

I think Tabs, Corbett and Kuek should all be worried. Sturt and one of Reidy or Knobel may also be looking down the barrel. Don’t know much about Ethan Stanley.

On topic, Banfield would have to be our most improved player recently. He’s a pearler! :)

I’ve always been a huge Banners fan.
Been bloody angry past seasons as he hasn’t been picked.
One poor game and I’ve spent the whole week vehemently defending him on various forums.
So damn happy he’s proved me right!

I’ve never really been a Banfield fan, his skills and decision making were just under what you want from an AFL level player. But 4 of his last 5 games have been very good and he’s now playing good footy.

Sign him up again.

That's a big list Tragic. Ethan Stanley is very good, he's a keeper, will probably play for peanuts as will a few others on that list.

Good summary, 391.

Johnson is still a work in progress. He's been good at finding space on the wing and being a connection player, but his disposal still needs a lot of work. That's what happens when you play a big inside mid on the wing, though.

PS How good was that broken tackle of Emmett's going inside 50! I think he's a keeper, too.

I think the plan is for Johnson to inherit the big inside mid role of Fyfe when he retires. A big guy always taking on the tackler and improving in this aspect of his game, disposal still a problem though.
I didn't realise Emmett was coming out of contract. He is definitely one to get signed up.
