Love him but Including 4th quarter against Port ...

Bailey Banfields last 7 shots at goal

O goals
5 points
2 out of bounds on full

Missed right at start, then WCE get slingshot opener, and start of 3rd missed two and WCE gone straight down other end and 'goal'.

Momentum killers. Coach killers.

He does the team things.

Sturt will kick two goals a game for us, but get 8 touches and an occasional tackle.

Jlo will pick Banfield every time.

Sturt also starts 7 rebound 50’s with poor positioning, fumbles and lack of a quick defensive switch after a turnover.

Banfield clearly creating spike on edge from 7 metres out was pretty bad, but the other two set shots straight in front from 20 out are inexcusable.

Past 3 seasons, Bailey has been our fringe 23rd best player and I have enjoyed his glory moments. Now that Schultz and Henry have defected, frankly he is in our best starting line up but here's hoping alternative younger ones grab a chance to prove themselves.

Easily a good enough footballer but kicking at goal is insanely bad. Brayshaw is in the same boat, along with Serong, O’meara and Switkowski.

The only thing that’s going to change this is a bit of speed on the ball coming from not standing still after a mark or free between the arcs creating movement and space so the mid-forwards don’t have to think. As soon as they think, they think poorly and either bomb it or miss.

Amiss hurts.

Tonight was an absolute shocker, I just don’t know where to from here.
We play dull and boring football for long periods of time and then play fast, attacking football, look great, win matches and just when you think we have turned our game around, we go straight back into slow, dull & boring.

Why do we do it to ourselves. If we supported another team, almost any other team (not the slime though) we would have watched our team win a premiership - but not us.

Banfield’s been good lately, but not tonight. How young players like Johnson, Erasmus and Sturt can be singled out in what was a pathetic team effort is baffling.

Our ball movement is generally too risk averse and slow.

The one time a ball was kicked in front of Sturt he marked and kicked a goal. Johnson and Erasmus aren’t being developed to play dynamic football, they’re too busy looking 15 metres in front of them rather than 30-40 metres.

So we had 2 forwards in the WAFL who kicked multiple goals, Voss has to come in ahead of Tabs to replace Amiss and I'd get Simpson in for Sonny Walters who has contributed nothing in last 3 games after a great start to the season. Switta may be fit next week but also contributes nothing on the score sheet so I'd bring in Freddie for Sturt, sorry Sam.
It may sound drastic but after tonight's effort our season is teetering on the precipice and continued poor performances cannot be allowed
Chappie has to come in for Johnno who has stagnated lately and despite being a useful contributor in the past I'd have Ethan Hughes out for Karl Worner after his 28 disposals in the WAFL. The last change I'd make would be to bring Will Brodie back from purgatory to replace Jaeger O'Meara. Surely couldn't do any worse.
I know it's a lot of changes but, apart from Amis, all of those guys I've mentioned have not contributed much in last 3 weeks. The season is slipping away and JLo needs to get a little mean

One of the few still running on top of the ground when most others were spent and great reward the two late goals. Fyfe and Serong, yeah smashed it, but Treacy and Banfield were the difference. Well played!

O'meara was also fantastic.

I heartily apologise for suggesting Bailey was lucky to be in the side and should have been the sub

a complete game at both ends of the ground, he's the new Blake Acres

He is having a great season, very handy player, not dissimilar to the Acres of 2022 .
If he keeps his form up I reckon we should shaft him by offering him 1 year at 190k per season and if he refuses then trade him to Carlton for a pick in the 50s too ?
