I'm super pleased to see Matt Taberner back in the side, and, if he can stay fit, he'll be a real asset to our forward line. It's time the bloke was given credit for his performances rather than scapegoated for his early, often imagined, issues.
Look at the three years from 2020 to 2022 before he was sidelined by injury lastyear. In his 45 games he kicked 89 goals (to all intents and purposes the 2 goals per game KPI ).
One reason for his output over this period was his impressive accuracy (remember this is the guy who was pilloried for his goalkicking). His conversion rate over the period was an elite 70%.
On these figures, he is almost as accurate as Jye Amiss (72%) and a little more productive than Jye (1.88 goals per game). Matt's still only 30. he's a 198cm 100kg monster with a terrific tank.
Amiss, Treacy, Jackson AND Taberner. That's scary.
