That's an easy question to answer.

To take the sting out of media pressure during the season as they can no longer ask; will your contract be extended.

The club is also saying to JL, here is a clear year without smoke to get in your way, if you make finals and show good progress we will add another two too next years extension.

Smart move as if he doesn't succeed they only have a year to pay out. or is it limited to just 6 months these days?

The footy soft cap implications of sacking a coach mean that offering more than a year would be reckless. It's really challenging to have a coach under pressure in a contract year, so the one year makes sense to me.

Really it's none of these so called footy experts' business what JLo's contract is. It only serves to contradict what stories they choose to peddle as fact or expert opinion. We've put up with the lies and rumours peddled by Hagdorn and Sumich for years now. Now we've got Jon Ralph and his player unrest and pirate stories.
The only people who really have any right to an opinion are the Freo Faithful, the members and those who have followed the Purple for all these years. King and Dunstall with their no hoper teams who will battle it out with the Weagles for Wooden Spoon honours and Ralphy just don't like it when we contradict their opinions and overblown egos.
