I did not watch the game but hopefully we have stopped the first quarter blowout. The 3rd quarter we let them out of the blocks my ol coach once said to me stick to your opponent like s--t to a blanket and if you don't understand that a viewing can be arranged. PA finished 3rd last year so with our outs on foreign soil not to bad a day at the office from my point of view. Watching Peel games over the last few years Treacy would have to be one of the longest most accurate kicks I have seen for quite a while. Only 21 he will gain consistency with his craft.

My biggest disappointment for the game was the substandard efforts by our taller forwards Treacy, Taberner and Sturt, especially Treacy. I really rate Josh and believe he is better when teamed with Amiss and Jackson but he really let himself down with his seeming lack of effort. One could be excused for thinking that Patrick Voss who was the front runner for a spot in Round 1 forward lineup. The guy is having a red hot crack at pushing for a spot and I really can't see how he couldn't get a game at Essendon. Round 1 selection will be very interesting with a few spots still up for grabs.

It was only a final pre season game. Anyone would think they were playing for a round one start. Longmuir’s jocks would’ve been in a knot after watching the game against Port, his post match interview seemed to indicate a different approach is needed ie more decisiveness and effort from the majority.

Fyfe has been setting the standard, once again.

Scratch matches can tell you some things but not everything. The givens for me were we still have a huge gap between our top 22 and the rest of the playing group.This includes some very experienced players including Tabener and Hughes; some newish ones such as Sturt, Warner, and Treacy. Some highlights were ( under pressure from a very good opposition ) Sharp, Johnson and Cooper. With Jackson, Amiss, Chapman and dare i say Emmett out we are an average unit at best.
One take out which maybe right or wrong was a feeling that our centre of Brayshaw, Serong and Young ( throw in Jaeger ) were tentative....you know " i dont want to get injured before round 1 kind of tentative.
Anyhow I still believe in the squad but I wish we had Harvey leading them in the coaching stakes.

Andy Brayshaw seems a shell of what he was showing post his big Brownlow vote year …season 2022? If Brayshaw isn’t having the impact with the ball required then Brodie needs to get a go to support Fyfe and if Brayshaw is standing up I’d possibly still play Brodie and swing Young back to get run and penetration from the back line.

If we get beaten up around the ball again this year we’re going nowhere.
