To be fair to Brayshaw, he was mostly playing a wing and not used in the middle too much, certainly not as an inside midfielder. He wasn't the man to get the ball out but was instead waiting on the outside which isn't conducive to his old role he did well in. He'll likely play more inside in an actual game but they wanted him to work on and improve his outside run.
You can only take so much out of a pre-season game, it's more about building the players up and getting them ready for rd 1 (including getting there uninjured) than showing a coherent structure or trying to win.
