I haven't been on Dockerland for a long time but Polly and I had some great banter in the DuFFLe and I sit here in Brisbane shedding tears reading all the lovely tributes.

I flew down to Melbourne on Saturday for the game and it was there where I was speaking to a random, but young, Freo fan about this forum and I had to tell them that I used to be a big name on this forum (not really).

I proceeded to drop some names like Mercury, Bizkit and Ooslumbird (vale) and then it got to Pollyanna. This young fella then told me Polly had passed away. I couldn't believe it. I still can't.

Freo has lost part of its soul. In fact, I reckon he added a bit of soul that didn't exist prior to him supporting the club.

Whenever I would quickly scroll a thread to get the gist I would always stop at Pollys, because I knew it would sum up the previous 3 pages in a single wise and humorous sentence. He just had a way.

Maybe dockerland could have is own hall of fame, run by an algorithm, where the regular contributors that have moved on are listed according to number of posts, and their top 5 you-beauted posts etched in stone for all time.

Have also been offline and missed the sad news until this morning.

I grew up in WA and headed east in the late 90s, never to return – apart from the odd FIFO for births, weddings and sadly too many funerals.

One of the things I missed from day one was WA footy, and this place has been a wonderful way to (re)connect.

It’s extraordinary what you find here. It’s sometimes droll, but mostly it’s incoherently constructive, inclusive, and often hilarious. Sometimes it’s sad. I remember Flipper and Oos, and like Polly, I don’t know them, but they – indeed all of you – are here still.

Polly's posts are all of the above and so much more, and I completely agree.. They were ones you never skimmed over.

There was a catch up and meeting of the Dockerland minds earlier in the season but it was also suggested we catch up in Polly's memory for the away derby this weekend. Is there still interest in a few brews while cheering on the boys smashing the OOFTIT's for Polly? I might have to dig out the old duck whistle Polly gave me.

I made it to the Market Grounds catch up and had a really good time. As someone firmly ensconced in middle age, it was fun to feel like a young man amongst the crew.

I'd be keen to go this weekend, but sadly I now have family coming over from the East Coast so I won't be able to make it. Next year.
