Not sure how much interest is out there for the ladies team but this caught my eye today. Aisling McCarthy has been traded from the Eagles in exchange for our Roxy Roux. Now I know that Aisling is a more than useful footballer but I always thought Roxy was one of our heart and soul young players who loved the purple as a kid and there has been an exodus of some of our best players from our team who were arguably the best in the comp a few years ago. I'm thinking players like Gemma Houghton and Sabreena Duffy and others who have gone to other clubs. I'll miss Roxy Roux

She was injured for quite a period and has battled to regain her early form but she's young and will probably be a star of the comp in the future

Yes, very disappointing. I think her injury early in the season didn't help. Agree she will be a star.
Only a 10 game season (complete joke!) doesn't allow some players to get back into their groove when injured early.
I will miss seeing her in purple and it wiill be horrendous her playing in blue and yellow.
Hope she does do well though, especially as the AFLW is trying to improve support and attendances.

We offloaded Roxy & a second round pick for Aisling.
We obviously rate Aisling. I can’t comment on her as I’ve never watched the lady eagles play, but Roxy showed plenty of promise last season.

Geez, now it's Roxy - what a mess.

If anyone had any sense of building the Freo side back into the powerhouse it once could have been they would be putting everything into getting Ella Roberts. She's put in her two years post draft with that bunch of losers, bring her home. Freo is where she belongs, where she wants to be, where she should be.

Roxy had a long enough run this season (plus last season) to show she hasn't lived up to the early hype. Not tall enough for ruck (without her big jump which can't be done every contest) and couldn't get near the ball otherwise. Showed a bit when shifted to defence, but we have plenty of talent back there. Scanlon has already gone past her. Still, will miss her. McCarthy as a mid/forward fits our needs.

Getting Gabi Newton from the Dogs (she has requested a trade to us) is the big coup, although it will likely clean out our meaningful draft picks. That's probably Ok as we still have a lot of new, young players coming through.
