I think it's reasonable for the AFL to try and maximise attendances, so I wouldn't expect them to play in places where their fans won't fit (like Darwin, Tassie, Canberra or Geelong).

It is worth noting you got your wish of Collingwood playing at the Gabba, Gold Coast and Perth though, so you must be happy.

Reasonable for Collingwood and the league Treasury, but not anyone else.

I reckon they'd maximise Freo game crowd attendance if they gave us 7 of the last 8 games at Perth Stadium. But they don't.

I hope everyone realises that it’s not the afl “giving” Collingwood so many games in Melbourne because they want to give them an advantage, it’s the fault of the other 9 vic teams requesting home games against Collingwood to maximise their gate takings (and also likely to be the televised on FTA as the blockbuster game, increasing sponsorship revenue)

The only real solution is to reduce the number of crap vic teams. North can relocate to tas for a start, then saints can move to NT and we have a truely national comp with the same number of teams (8 vic, 10 non vic)

The AFL wants all teams to be equal as long as some teams are more equal than others.

You can’t aim for equality but then give “big clubs” advantages like blockbuster games, extra home fixtures or prime time TV audiences. All that does is keep big clubs big.

Is there a more contrived, manipulated, unequal competition out there in the sporting world than the AFL?

Even soccer which is corrupt and rigged a lot of the time has a proper 'draw' with names drawn from a barrel. And they also manage to play each other twice home and away.
