Clearly it was not handled well, but if you haven’t got the full facts it’s hard to determine where the truth lies. For example, the complainants have said they didn’t seek financial compensation, where today Jason Burt through his lawyer is claiming that’s not correct.

As reported by the ABC today:

‘In a statement, Burt's lawyer Tony Hargreaves said the allegations made by the complainants and assertions made in the open letter were wrong.

"It is simply not true that the complainants have not been seeking financial compensation," Mr Hargreaves said on his client's behalf.’

I don't think you need to know all the details to be able to see the substance of the issue.

What they are seeking to address by making that statement is that they are not doing this for a financial payout, by specifically addressing that minor line of the letter, Burt's lawyer is trying to paint their motivation as financial and discredit them.

I should point out, I do not have all the facts when I say this. I'm just extrapolating from the information available to me and processing that through the context of my knowledge and experiences.

I would be surprised if the lawyer makes such a statement without some factual basis.

That’s an odd statement to make in the letter if not true.

So what if they are asking for compensation? I think it's fairly well established that if you can make a case involving any form of illegal discrimination, there will be some form of compensation either through judgement or settlement.

I think it's disingenuous to say that because compensation was part of the conversation that one of the parties shouldn't be listened to.

Anyway, not only do I not have all the facts, I don't have any of the facts, so its all just speculation on my part.

here's a fact that Jason Burt admitted: he, Clarko and Fagan accompanied a player to his girlfriend's house to "support" him breaking up the relationship.

and now it also seems that Fagan's legal team sent a letter to the complainants legal team that threatened commencing court proceedings to stop the AFL investigation from proceeding (not sure it was ever going?)

two days later, the investigation was called off.

smells like bullying to me.

I don't feel the need to be politically correct with these allegations. Those accused have done NOTHING to refute what has allegedly happened and instead done everything to silence and ignore those who were wronged by their actions. I have no sympathy or good will to the coaches and staff involved who split up families and played a huge part in trying to ruin their lives.

It may be harsh but so is splitting up a pregnant mother and child from their father. That's f*cked.
