You can’t gain confidence from losses so it’s really important in terms of improvement, definitely. But we have thrown out the ridiculous stop-wait-go backwards or bomb it-turn it over ‘game plan’, and that’s the important aspect that makes me hopeful. It appears that the coaching team are prepared to change things when it doesn’t work. I doubt we will beat the Swans or Cats, but if we don’t revert to that static rubbish and take the game on, it’s progress.

There was still a significant proportion of stop wait go backwards or bomb it turn it over - only a bit less turnover than pteviousbecause hawthorn are not very good.

Concerning it remains that there was a fair smashing in centre clearances and the juice was purple under a less-experienced yellow and brown sledgehammer.

Take the wins and some positives but crumbs there is work to do.

If Erasmus loses that silly soccer side heel, he will keep Brodie out of the team.

We didn't play a very good side. Still had the same old problems - smashed in centre clearances (before Fyfe came on), useless inside 50s, and slow play kicking across the backline.

Happy with Jackson's performance tonight, 6 marks and 3 goals. Amiss likewise is a great lead and holds marks. Unfortunately Treacy can't catch a cold and won't be in the side much longer.

Erasmus looked out of his depth in the midfield but who didn't in the centre until Fyfe came on. It was demoralising watching Worple & Newcombe win every centre clearance. But Fyfe sorted things out and Freo were much better with him on the ball.

I'll take a 69 point win over the two smashings we copped in the past fortnight but it's a false dawn. The Hawks failed to capitalise on our many turnovers but good teams like Melbourne, Geelong and Collingwood will in the future.

I’ve watched the past few Hawks games and they’ve been very competitive, which is why I expected to lose tonight. There are signs that we are improving if we can build on our ball movement. If I’m realistic about it, better teams will totally remove our confidence and we’ll go back to square one. But maybe, just maybe….we’ll use it and grow as a team. Like successful teams do.

I liked the experiment of swinging Fyfe into the midfield tonight.

Well he sure as hell isn't the shining prince of the forward line...the yips are alive and well....it appears that some people have the yips due to a neurological condition affecting specific muscles maybe he needs a shrink.

Fyfe's set shot are so bad he may as well switch to snaps around the body. Couldn't be worse surely....

It was great how he went into the centre square for the restart and we immediately starting winning centre square clearances. Class is class.

Leave Treacy in there for a bit. He's trying a bit too hard having been on the edge of selection too long. Let him settle.

Remember his first year; natural forward, good hands, straight kick, likes to smash defenders...

Let him settle? Give Sam Sturt a call and get his views about settling in.

Mont, I think the days of smashing through defenders being within the rules may be numbered

If Treacy only runs in straight lines, then maybe he can play wing. Tell him to run from backline to fwd line all night long pinpointing Amiss in the fwd line for multiple goal assists...

Genuine question, but does Treacy actually have good hands? Often he’s in the right spot, uses his body well but the ball doesn’t stick.

hard to say. his first year was 16 games, 13 goals averaging 3 marks.

last year he only got four games and was still averaging 3 marks.

he averages 6.5 in the wafl

maybe he's taken too many tips from Tabs...
