Been thinking about the game's future and I have come to the conclusion that cricket is a dying sport in this country. I think it's demise is being accelerated by the game's administrators. I played my first game in 1976 and still play today, so it's saddening for me. As I love the sport even though I'm not that good at it.
Firstly, we know as football fans that in Feb they'll start playing practice games and come the end of March, close to Easter the season proper starts. We know the finals will be in September....set your watch to it.
I haven't the slightest idea of what not only the schedule for cricket is, but what their model even is for the sport. I get the distinct impression they are winging it.
Something repeatable needs to be put in place and I bet if we played fifty games of AFL a season we'd all get bored soon enough.
