Just when you think the AWFL has reached peak stupidity they say hold my beer.

They are the drunk uncle wetting his pants at the family bbq.

Nah…..they’re the Catholic priest preaching love and goodwill whilst keeping a few choir boys back after class for a good talking to.

Freo Dockers members looking to attend Gather Round should consider that the Club will play back-to-back fixtures in South Australia, with round 4 also set to be confirmed in Adelaide, when the full fixture is released in the coming days.

Do you really think the Adelaide crowd for a Dockers v. Suns game deserves a bigger venue?

What about ...try and stay with me here, DS ... what about they don't choose those two teams to play against each other for the Gather Around Round.

Taking it back a step further, what about ... and I know this is probably a bit crazy... don't play games of football in places where people will not want to go and watch those games of football being played.

Not impressed. Friday afternoon when a lot of people are at work - working in many cases so they have the money to pay for their memberships, merchandise or to attend games on occasion. So pay thousands to attend live or watch after the game has finished.
Round 1, 4 and 5 we are away. So two weeks of live footy in the first 5 weeks.
Derby on a Sunday afternoon, again.
Finishing in the top 8 is clearly acknowledged!
The AFL seem to do what they want.
When attendance drop they will wonder why.
Just super annoyed after looking forward to a new season.
Hopefully the boys are amazing regardless of the AFLs decisions.

I’m looking forward to seeing how it all plays out. I loved the feel of the WAFL Grand Final this year with a big crowd in a suburban oval. Hopefully that’s replicated to some extent at Norwood. As for the timeslot, I get to choose between an early work knockoff and head to the pub to watch (great option) or take a day or afternoon off for the school holidays and watch with the little tacker (also pretty good).

In a footballing sense, it’s a better option than playing a team from SA which would be an extra away game, and probably better than playing a big Victorian club (a de facto away game with the crowd noise). It’s probably also better than playing early on Saturday morning, or late on Sunday when Adelaide Oval is chopped up, or at Mount Barker.

Not the best. Not the worst.

I think we can have a conversation about this without being condescending shane. We won't live to see a time when the AFL respect the Dockers so within that parameter, a game against Gold Coast at a suburban oval (rather than some country town out of Adelaide) doesn't seem too bad an option.

But on the point of people not wanting to travel to Adelaide, I'd rather that than see the Vic-centric attitude continue by holding this Round in Melbourne and surrounds. Personally, I don't like the concept of this Round at all, but if it has to happen, then Adelaide is ok.

Freo marketing have responded via a tweet using a Simpson’s clip. Essentially saying that you need to be careful what you ask for. Freo wanted more Friday games, and that’s what this fixture gives them, but not in a good way!

If it's in SA they should've scheduled the local teams' games in whoop-whoop - the teams, and their supporters, know the bus routes after all. Let Port play in their prison bar jumper too - as long as they agree to play in Wherevertthehellsville on a vineyard lawn.
