Polly, that reminds me of when the Shonork Salmon used to play the Montoray Marmots in the '87 Dormarcle Cup series. Franny McTaggart and Partridge Jauquesie were both hell-bent on defense. Jauquesie used to say that if the puck made it to the goalie then they'd already failed.
The Salmons had the Li brothers who they called The Great Wall of China, and were notorious for not letting a shot get past them.
So when the two teams met in the semi-finals at Purtunky Stadium, they went into triple overtime just to get the first score. Even though the Marmots lost, Jauquesie said afterward that he believed it was the greatest game of hockey he'd ever been a part of and saw low scoring as the future of the sport. Unfortunately he died later that year in the notorious Trombache fires.
